Default HELP! 991.1 problem

hey guys been having this problem that the cars front feels very wobbly and unstable at high speeds over 140mph. This has happened weather the spoiler is deployed or not. I’ve checked wheels, balance, and alaignment everything is perfect. Spoke to several people said that in other forums they call it the “lift” issue. Anyone else experiencing the same. Any fix to this. Did Porsche do anything about it at the dealer to help customers like myself. Please fill me in. Thanks

Does not sound right. Maybe check the toe? What tires? I throw a wheel balance weight sometimes and the car will hobble around a bit, but I guess you already checked that. I would check with your dealer.

Dealer is telling me they never heard of this. There waiting on an answer. I figured maybe the car needs more downforce?

Here's what happened to me last weekend at VIR at 160mph! Notice the M3 going 40mph on line with his hand out the window. You will probably notice it.

Yea I noticed that. But I’m feeling like a very light weight feeling as if the front end is off the ground and I’m loosing steering.

Do you have any aftermarket suspension done to the car? Have you checked the alignment? Also, was there a lot of wind on your run to that speed?

Wow that was squirrely Randy wow (good job)! Check aliment and also do a PDCC bleed/svc. More toe-in at the rear will help.

Having same issue on 991.1 TTS; feels unstable (wobbly) at speeds over 120 mph. Tried under different conditions to see If i could isolate issue.... smoother roads and or with no wind etc. I've taken the car twice to dealer who found no apparent issues (alignment, tires, balance etc). I have maybe 6 more months before I can change all the tires. Then I will switch the PZeros for Michelin PS4s.

Hey Storm_911 it has nothing to do with tires in my experience I've had, Pzero's , Pirelli sotto zero, and PS4s the issue still remains. does this also happen to you on launch? yesterday i launched the car did not reach past 70mph and the whole car felt like it was going to go side ways on me. Road was dry, and tires were warm. Crazy thing is that TC light does not even pop up! My dealer is trying to investigate on this and see what may be the issue. I have several DE evens coming up and I'm afraid to even take the car.

A lot of folks report this feeling with 911s. Does your car feel light on straights on in turns?

That 160mph scare might feel like front end liteness, but it’s really rear-end liteness. It was probably due to a combination of the convex road (tiny hill), coupled with the lane change, both of which would cause that super light feeling in the rear.

I track a completely stock 991.1 that I have routinely exceeded 140 mph on P Zeros and also on Sport Cup 2s, and I have never experienced this problem except when I drive on concrete with rain channels. My car has 23,400 miles on it as of this writing. I haven't felt floating sensations in a 991.1 Turbo-- these cars are heavy at 3600+ lbs w/o a driver, but I have felt the AWD steering, torque vectoring, and other nannies save my a$$ during turning maneuvers at high speed tracks including VIR, Brainerd, and Road America. There is a lot of PLC algorithms influencing the car that are definitely more noticeable at speed, but nothing near wobbly. I used to use Sport Plus during track sessions, but I prefer Sport because it gives me more feedback from the car instead of countering these forces with computers,

I suspect a little toe/camber adjustment may reduce the problem like others have mentioned. Also, check to see that the rear axle steering campaign was completed on your car. There may have been other campaigns that could influence your cars wobbly behavior, too, so ask the technician to verify that all campaigns were completed. I would bet there is a PLC fault when either yaw or lateral forces are sensed. You may also try seeing how many G's are measured with your G-meter during these events, and offer this as proof to Porsche that something is wrong.

Good Luck!

Default 991.2 TTS high speed dance/wobble

Has this issue ever been solved? I recently hit 193mph on the autobahn and felt this dancing/squirmy/wobbly/light sensation. It seems to be noticeable around 170mph. I was shooting for at least 200mph as I had the room but let off as I lost confidence.

For reference, I've topped out multiple Carrera's at VMAX and none of them did this. Those models being base 991.2 @ 187mph, GTS 991.2 199mph, 991.1 C4S 192mph

My car is a 2018 TTS... As a matter of fact, you can skip the 35 second mark of this video and you'll see the Corvette doing it. Exactly what you see is what I felt

I've not experienced this wobble yet but admittedly have only had the car up to 155 mph at the track end of the Roebling Road straight... But the car felt very stable even at that speed. I'm in a 991.2 though so maybe this happens to the 991.1. From some info I read on this forum it seems the 991 TTS do have some positive downforce at high speeds especially w/ the Sport+ Aero mode engaged which should help the car feel more planted and balanced. This is my first Porsche but I've found the 911 TTS to feel quite stable at speed though as compared to other cars I've run at 140+ mph like some Vipers and a '14 GT500.
