Sun Visors

Has anyone replaced the airbag labeled plastic visors with the no warning Euro leather or Alcantara version? Easy fix but the price, ouch. Alcantara matches the headliner, leather offers more contrast.

I am always pissed off about how much Porsche charges for upgrades...based on principle...that I avoid most options that are not performance oriented. I have to ask, how much for the Euro visors?

It just feels like Porsche is quite predatory when it comes to what they want to charge for options in general. Same for replacement parts. Yeah, they do make a great car, but getting ripped off in the process does not build any loyalty from me.

$1295 at Suncoast
https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/SKU992VISORS.html
Same price for Alcantara

I feel vindicated. I suspect, with really high quality leather, these things cost $30/each to make - tops! That should make a wholesale $120, and retail $240. The rest is really just greed by Porsche AG.

If your sun visors are Plastic you can remove the stickers with denatured alcohol. Soak a towel or paper towel in the alcohol and hold it up to the sticker. It may take several minutes and/or tries but it works great.

I’ve removed the visor stickers off my TTS and 2 other Pcars. I take a paper folded 4thick the size of the sticker and soak it in 93% alcohol. I turn the visor so it’s facing up and let the alcohol soaked towel sit for 5 or more minutes. Sticker should peel off slowly all in one piece. Clean up the residual glue with he towel , wipe down with 303 cleaner. Never know they were there.

Thanks, I have done this before, not sure what bothers me more the stickers or the fact I have plastic sun visors on a 200k car

I hear you. The only thing good about the plastic visors is that you can use this method to get those silly stickers off.

So what does one do about a leather visor with these awful stickers? Will the alcohol trick ruin the leather?

Not sure but I would not want to ruin them, $1295 for a new set at Suncoast.

I agree

I was looking at a new '18 TTS on the lot that had 30k in "deviated stitching" upgrades. That is just insulting to me. You can buy a new car today for 30k.

Yes, "predatory" is a good word for it

stealthpilot 03-14-2018 01:44 AM

It pisses me off too. If Mercedes made an all wheel drive AMG GTR I would probably defect.

Karl911 03-14-2018 07:05 PM

I replaced mine years ago with Alcantara! Look great , should have been standard on TTS. GREED Dealers are the biggest pigs!

My visors are leather and tried to remove with denatured alcohol not gonna happen. I got these overlay stickers and unless you are looking really hard they are unnoticeable. Just make sure that the overlays are long and wide enough to cover warning stickers. Different manufacturers have different size warning labels. For the cheap price it’s worth trying. https://www.ebay.com/p/Sun-Visor-Bla....c100005.m1851

My OCD would notice and chastise me for covering up rather than fixing the problem, lol.
