.1 14 and 15 TTS. What problems?

These .1TTSes are coming off lease with low miles. What major issues have befallen them which would make you nervous outside CPO?

Nothing - as far as an unabused purely stock TT/TTS goes.

Heater valve- but that’s all 991 not specific to turbo.

No problems with my 2014. I rolled past 25,000 miles on the odometer today.

Carbon ceramic brake rotors. I'm on my third set. Not wear, manufacturing issues. Check for unnatural noise.

You must have a problem with some other part of the brake system killing your rotors. There’s no way manufacturing issues would result in you having two bad sets of PCCB rotors in a row without some other folks reporting the same problem.

Please see below Porsche technical bulletin on this issue.

Excellent. Thanks for that. So, it looks like that was a production problem in the early 991 lifecycle.

I assume you haven’t had rotors replace in along while now though?

sdg1871 03-04-2018 10:42 PM

My heater valve also broke.

Correct. Nevertheless, given the cost of these things buyers of out of warranty 2014's should be aware and include this as part of the inspection process.

The only other issue I had was in year three a very high pitched dog whistle type squeaking sound could be heard. That was diagnosed and repaired after dropping the engine and mostly dismantling the rear of the car as coming from the Cardan shaft. All performed under warranty. I have about 10K miles on the car now.

No issues. The PCCB issue mentioned above was just that some made a clicking sound, but it was not any type of performance issue. These cars have shown to be nearly bullet proof, and I would recommend them without hesitation!

Like I wrote, that was great info.

On the other hand, there don’t seem to be any issues, discovered so far, that strike every 991 or the majority of 991s or even a whole bunch of 991s.

The vacuum valve issue is arguably, an exception, but it doesn’t seem to strike every, or even the majority of 991s.

Or, in other words, the 991 equivalent of RMS or IMS syndromes has yet to be discovered.

Air oil separator.....replaced on my '15 TT under warranty @ about 6K miles. I believe the total tab was about $1300.

Known issue. Engine "beeping" sound is the predictor.

2014 TTS cab with 22k miles here. No major issues so far--I had to replace the roof lining and cup holder under warranty, which runs until early 2020.
