Hi all -
new member. New to Porsche. I finally got a April allocation for August delivery. Very excited to say the least.

Now comes the hard part. I have been messing around with the configurator for months...and I mean months. I just went my local
Porsche dealer to get an idea of what some of these colors look like in person.

I'm so confused its not even funny.

1). My first problem is picking the exterior color - My initial setup was a Carrera White Metallic with Black/bordeux. But I'm wondering for a car that costs over
200k - is that too generic? Should I get something with some more flash? I mean it is a 200k car.

I've tinkered with carmine red with black interior.
My other consideration is Chalk exterior with blue/chalk interior or black interior OR PTS Gemini Blue Metallic with Blue/chalk interior.

I guess there is no wrong answer. I'm not interested in resale. I just want to pick a combination that I will enjoy looking at for years.

2). Options. Man. There are way too many. I've got most of them down, but the two that has me stumped are
- adaptive cruise. It says it's only good for speeds over 19mph. So in other words, not good for stop and go traffic. Is it worth it??
- Burmester vesus Bose. For those of you who have Bose - what are your opinions? Is the extra $ for the Burmester worth the extra money?
- TTS wheels. I love the regular TT wheels. I do NOT like the look of the center locks. But my dealer stated that center locks are better for resale value.
it's not my priority, so I will likely stick with the regular TT wheels.

Sorry for the myriad of questions. I'm excited to get started and lock in my order - I have until April. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Any pictures of your precious builds would be helpful as well.

Something like 70% of all 911s are either black, white, or silver. If you want to be discreet, those are good color choices.
Flashy would be the reds (Guards/Carmine), yellow, or Miami Blue.
Or something really exotic like Ultraviolet or Acid Green if you are willing to wait for PTS.

My current C4S has Bose. I went for a drive in a TTS with Burmester, and as soon as we got up to speed, the road/tire/engine noise was enough that I didn't think the Burmester sounded any different. So it wouldn't be worth the extra $4K to me. But if you do a lot of driving at slower cruising/commuting speeds, AND have music that's been properly encoded, it might be worth it to you.

I like the look of the centerlock wheels more. But the five-lugs are easier to deal with - no need to carry around the breaker bar or torque wrench; any tire shop will be able to work with them. It sounds like you're going to keep this car for a while, so resale value should probably be way on the bottom of your priority list - somewhere in between "how easy is the car to clean" and "does it get better gas mileage than a Prius".

The adaptive cruise was my must-have option. I couldn't live without it now that I have it.

Works great in stop and go. Even in crawl mode. Terrific for heavy traffic. If you stop completely, you just toggle up on the arm to turn it back on.

I think it says you must be going over 19 mph to set it, but I've set it at super slow speeds.

Drove across Kansas last summer and it really helped keep me from speeding. Made the trip effortless.

I had Bose in my 15' tts and have Burmester in my 17' tts, if you listen to your sound system there was no comparison Burmester is much better IMO, worth the money that's another issue, like with MOST Porsche option prices, also had 5 lug on my 15' and have center lock on my 17'. Was worried the center lock would be a pain in the ***, but it is not at all. I get my cars clear wrapped for protection, both have been metallic white, the color is easy to keep clean, and resale has been easy as many want that color, I am old and the yellow and red color car days are behind me now.

1. Get what you like. I am on the subtle side and like GT Silver, but always thinking about Carmine. I have no idea what I will do next time. What I do know is that it will be a color that I will turn and look back at every day when I am walking away from the car. It's a spiritual moment. If white does that for you, excellent.
2. I love high end audio, but I have the Bose (to keep weight down) and it's very adequate/excellent for my needs. I've never once thought "I wish I'd upgraded the audio". The music is the juice, not the speakers, so I don't miss having Burmeister for this particular car. I have other options when I want critical listening. Again, if this is your only car, get it exactly the way you will love it.

I vote for flashy colors. Even though I love my white TTS, whenever I see another TT/S in lava orange/yellow/red/miami/mexico blue, I wish that I would have gone with one of those other colors. If you like the TT wheels, by all means, go with them. That's what I did and I had the dealer powdercoat mine gloss black to match the other black accents. For the stock wheels, I also added 8mm ECS spacers up front and 10mm at the back. The stance is now similar to the stance when fitted with my HRE's during the warmer months. As for the ACC, I got it mainly for the emergency braking capability just in case of a possible front end collision.

I don't think the MSRP should have anything to do with your color choice. The real question is if you want to blend-in with traffic or if you want to stand-out with a 'hey-look-at-me' color.

I've had both kinds of exterior colors. For something that will get driven a lot I've decided I prefer a 'blend-in' exterior color with a 'hey-look-at-me' interior. And thus, my Agate Gray with Black/Red interior.

Something in between could be Carmine Red with the Espresso/Cognac natural leather.


As has been written above, Porsche option prices are not 'value based.' The Burmester is priced at the 'pain point.' That said, I like my Burmester.

I don't have 'staff' to keep my wheels clean. So, I only like wheels that are easy to clean and thus the Sport Classic Wheels are my choice.

JW, car looks great. What springs did you go with? I have the center locks, but wanting to powder coat my wheels black as well to compliment the other black bits on the car. I have the Burmester on this car and had just the standard stereo in my 991.1 GT3. Not an audiophile. Can't really tell a big difference, IMO.

Thanks. I have TechArt springs on mine. The ride is a little bit rougher though.

I find Carrera White to be outstanding. Very few colors make the other parts of the car stand out as well as white - just an opinion.
I have seen several pictures of an Volcano Orange GT3 as well as a recent video of Gemini Blue Metallic Targa S with houndstooth seats that are absolutey gorgeous. I look at those pictures every day.
The hardest part of this adventure is trying to figure out - how will an Volcano Orange or Gemini Blue Metallic Turbo S look?

I think that Mexico and Voodoo Blue are absolutely gorgeous on a GT3- but what will they look like on a TTS? I don't want to order a $200k mistake with the wrong exterior color - that's the most important part in my opinion.

Again - thanks to all for your informative input. It will go a long way in helping making my decision.

I don't think you can go wrong with any color in a TT/S. It'll just be what color you really want to see yourself in the most. For me, the white is gorgeous but doesn't really give that extra little pop that one of the other vibrant colors bring to the ownership. Like the feeling of having a really special super car rather than just having a really nice car. The special color will push it into that territory. If you want to stay under the radar, you can't go wrong with white/black/silver/grey. IMO, the other vibrant colors will make the car just that bit more special. The funny thing is, I get more compliments when I'm in my blue subaru than when I am in my porsche because of the special color. No one even takes a second look at the porsche around here since the color blends in so well with most other cars. lol

Oh - I forgot to add that all your TTS build-outs are just beautiful. Thank you for uploading all those pictures. It makes my decisions
that much harder to make. First world problems I know.

As a kid growing up I always wanted a Red Turbo Porsche. Yes it's loud, but I love it. I didn't go with the Burmester and took that money and put it into full leather and deviated stitching. I feel the aero kit adds a great touch to the car. One last thing I would
recommend and that is to paint the wheels black if you intend on adding any black accents. Again it adds a great over all aesthetic value to the car. I also added the glossy black "RS" center caps as well. What ever exterior color however you decide upon, it only matters to you. You're the one driving it and loving it.
I looked at a lot of pictures online before I made my final decision. Go over everything carefully with your Rep so you don't miss out on something you'll regret not adding later.
