Help me... in the hunt conflicted 488 or 991.2 turbo S
I am on my 4th Porsche, Current one is a nicely modified 996tt, which I intend to keep. (learned my lessons on selling 993tt). I really was expecting to get a gently used 17 s...but lately have been lusting after 488s. Looked at sat in some nice ones, but never driven a Ferrari, or a 991.2 for that matter. I know the threads. My problem is two fold. 1. Can I enjoy driving a nearly $280k car without freaking out over other drivers...etc. Would the attention be annoying. Seems like most never rack up miles on their F-cars...Many Porsche drivers do. All that said, this is a Porsche forum. Here is one I am looking at...Thoughts? I want red or white. For a low mile used, I expect to save a minimum of 15% under msrp.

I looked that car over, and I approve. It's priced about right for the original MSRP, the condition is like brand new, the options are high and nicely done. Ferrari's are a work of art, and they don't depreciate nearly as bad as most other cars (meaning the cost to own it is less than people think). That said, I went with the car I can drive vs the car I mostly look at. It's a tough decision. Good luck. The TTS you linked to is, however, spectacular. You can't lose on this decision.

I own a 991TT and a 488. It depends on what you want to do with the car. The 488 is comfortable and could be driven anywhere you would drive the TT. The Ferrari will depreciate less, unless you put a bunch of miles on it. Driving the Ferrari is more of an occasion at least for me. The Ferrari will attract more attention than the TT. Insurance is about a 1K more on the Ferrari, but is offset by 7 years worth of maintenance included in the Ferrari's price. If it's a week end car, I would get the Ferrari, if its a DD I would get the turbo. If you have never had a Ferrari get the Ferrari.

Hard question to answer. I have had 4 V-8 Ferrari's Last one was a 458 Spider which I had from new for 3 years. I didn't get a 488 because after 3 years, I had 2,500 miles on the Ferrari. I love the car, and do miss it occasionally, but I always had a hard time driving it. I didn't feel comfortable bringing my kids to friends/school/activities in it. I was also afraid to drive it into Manhattan. There is nothing like a Ferrari, that's for sure, but even though you can drive it daily, practically speaking, I couldn't/wouldn't. As far as depreciation goes, yes as a % the TT will go down more, make no mistake, 488's depreciate. Right now, you are in the late 2nd half of 488 run. The values will decline as many people prepare for the "speciale" version as well as the 488 replacement. In my experience, unless you get a new Ferrari at the beginning of a cycle and flip it the first 6 months (back to the dealer if you ever want another new one), you will get hit. Minimum 20k loss per sale if you put 0 miles on it.
Get whichever one you think will bring you the most happiness. I have a TT now, and I like that I can use it anytime/anyplace. No, it's not a 488 and doesn't sound like it, etc. but it is a fantastic car and I use it much more.
Hope this helps. Either way, you win!

Thanks you guys for your perspective. Maybe someday in the future a Ferrari. For now I think the extra attention, etc. would be too much for me. This 991.2 : https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...2-b9e65cfab404 looks very nice and is spec'd very close to what I want. Unfortunately it is on the exact opposite end of the continent from me. If anyone lives in the Miami area...and happens to be is the neighborhood, I would gladly compensate for checking it out.

I purchased a CPO TTS from a Florida Porsche dealership a couple months ago, site unseen, no regrets at all, I'm from Arizona

The only way to decide is to drive both. They are both great cars. I live in LA and there are alot of both. I had a 458 coupe and I really liked it but I like my 991TTS better.
I realize its the last generation but it depends what you want...like I said go drive both and you will figure it out.
