Question GT3 wheels on 991.1 TTS?

Out of curiosity, do the centerlock wheels from the GT3 also fit on the 911 Turbo S? Thinking about picking up a 2014 but not a fan of the regular polished cross spoke wheels that come standard on the Turbo S.

We did one with RS wheels. 20 and 21! You just need new rear tires. She looks great!

Sam what 21" GT3 RS rear tires fit and cleared the 2014/5 TTS ICs? Above looks lowered too, any suspension component changes?

Yeah. This is a 17 but it also works on the earlier model and clears everything. And I like getting a 21 inch wheel with a 325 tire in the back from any make. Offsets turn out perfect. This gentleman wants to get the carbon wheels that Porsche just unveiled so he might offer someone a decent price. Bought them brand new last year. Let me know if anyone’s interested

Hi Sam, what size tires are you running on the car pictured above? I have a 991.1 2015 and would love to go wider front and rear. I've been told the turbos are not set up to handle the 21's in the rear. This by forum tire reps on rennlist. Not sure what to believe. I think wider tires would really help the car set faster lap times.

Yes, looking for same too, exactly what tire sizes and brand (tire shoulders vary enough), also what suspension components if changed? I know 265/325 fit our OEM 20" wheels, but have also not heard of 325 x X? x 21" working. Need track duty clearance not just street. Any more details would be helpful.

In order for the 265 to fit in the front do you have to go 265-20. Rear then would also be 325-20 side wall height been 20 front and rear. Who makes that size tire? Are you sure this will fit on are stock wheels?

You have to think of the tires as an all-wheel-drive turbo not the 2 Wheel drive car. 265 is a chunky one and it will be difficult to match up diameters. It’s running Pirelli 255/35-20 in the front and that 325 that everyone runs in the back on 21 inch wheels for a TwinTurbo. I can get pictures and exact sizes at the shop later if anyone needs anything just send me an email. Once in a while you can see these wheels for sale from an RS owner. New they are quite costly I think it was about the same price as a set of HRE wheels, again I can verify that as well but if anyone seriously interested. I think in the next month or two when the carbon wheels become available we will switch. This car is with me now to finish off development on the By Design Stage 4. Can’t wait to run the final level with meth injection today!

Yes, they are a direct fit but tires must be changed as mentioned above.

Here is a 991.2 GTS we did using a GT3 fitment for the HRE R101 Lightweights. These wheels save over 30 lbs from the OEM wheel setup. Below is a 21"x9.5" // 21"x12.5" with 255/30/21 325/25/21 Pirelli's. 20" sizing is also available.

Cup 2s in 265-35-20, 325-30-20 work on 991.1 TTS OEM wheels, depending on car suspension config, alignment and if lowered, you can get some front rubbing at full lock. With OEM suspension, alignment and ride height I thought I saw some posted no issues.
As for GT3 RS wheels/tires, I see OEM tires are 265-35-20, 325-30-21. These don’t fit as far as I’ve heard due to our intercooler clearance.
Sooo, Sam what 325 x X x 21” tire have you found that you mention fits TT? We want bigger tires! Maybe an IC design that will give the 991 TTs more tire clearance, I wish. I hear 2018 TT has more clearance like GT3 & RS.

The coolers are not in your way. It’s not the larger size necessarily it’s what’s available and what matches properly front to rear for ratio. The car is smart and won’t cope well with too much discrepancy. You want to run the stock size 20 inch front or you can go from a 245 to 255 and that’s fine because the rear 325/25/21 is larger slightly as well. And then on the rear it’s the 325 25 21 Pirelli that most everybody runs Because there’s just not another option in the United States. There just isn’t another tire. You can’t run the 30 series on a 21 because you won’t have the proper diameter compared to the front as far as ratio. It’s just too big. The RS is 2WD and designed around it. So next thing you know you just are sizing up giant fat tires that look funny and rub. Aside from that your mechanical grip will not necessarily improve. Best thing is to consult somebody based on your needs and goals. I could always help with that. But there’s only a certain configuration available for 21 or 20. In this case you sort of mix them together if that makes sense. Proper set up and geometry will give you wonderful handling and does not necessarily require giant tire.

Nolimits, thank you for your reply. I just checked and Tire rack has the PS2 cups in 265/35/20 and 325/30/20 I'm currently running stock suspension. I'm not crazy about the rubbing at full lock. Any way to confirm with stock suspension and center lock wheels. I think the car will do everything better with more rubber on the ground. My car is tuned so its putting down more power. Just don't want any issues. Just going with the PS2's in stock sizes should make a big difference. Of course I would like to push the limits with the larger tire size. Really on the fence.

Given addl power you may want a stickier tire like Trofeo R in OEM sizes, but they wear faster than Cup 2s. The wheel vendors may be able to get you a guaranteed to work solution, check with some of them. Good luck.
