Did you follow Porsche's break-in rules?
I'm up to 700 miles in my new 991.2 Turbo S, and have been careful to follow the owner's manual break-in rules (under 4k RPMs, no lugging, vary engine speeds). It takes a lot of restraint to keep this up, and I'm wondering how many people have followed (or plan to follow) the rules all the way to 2000 miles as listed in the manual?

Not really... no red line but def over 4K in all my new 911's.

No poll choice for me: I picked mine up at Zuffenhausen so I followed the German break-in rules. |

I think you are good now. Find an open road, put in sport plus, do a hard pull then dont brake, let the car slow down by itslef.

Nope, Niet, and Nada.
Kept the revs down until about 800 miles. Didn't beat on it right after that, but didn't baby her either... YMMV |
No. Did first track day at around 1K miles.

and do they apply to US cars picked up in Germany? Plenty of motor builders want a new engine run more-or-less hard immediately. This topic is much-discussed, much-debated, much-argued-about. There's at least one thread every 6 months on the 911 board. My opinion is that the US rules are more about liability than science. |
I decided that 1000 miles was good, got an oil change then, and then tracked it the following day. I've had more than a dozen Porsches and BMW M cars, and 1000 miles has always been my rule, and always agreed on with my BMW and Porsche mechanics.

It’s been 14 months since I took delivery of my ‘17 TTS and I’m still in my break-in miles, but I still follow the protocol. *shrug* |
I voted Yes, but that was a bit of a lie, I was very careful particularily when the car was not up to temp. Once it was warmed up I did the odd Rev over 4000, but never even close to Red-Line. I have just over 3000 miles now, and I still drive it carefully when its below normal operating temps. But once warm I now will drive it as I see fit. Mine is a 991.2 TTS. My SA noted when I took delivery, once it was warmed up you can ‘Drive It Like You Stole It’, he has been selling new 911 for decades, and is the Sales Manager at my dealership. |

On a related topic, how about your first oil changes? I have a hard time waiting 10k miles or whatever the book says...

As noted I am just over 3000 miles. Its been on the road only since the Spring of 2017. It is back in winter storage right now, it will get its first Oil/Filter change before I put it back on the road this Spring. |
Ran mine hard from day one and so did the previous owner. As long as the oil temp is good, I am a firm believer in breaking in and running an engine hard regularly. Doesn't have to be high RPMs per se, just lots of load to keep rings sealed and interface rings with cylinders. I've pulled many a new racing motor out of the shop and directly on to a full power dyno run for tuning. Mine ran 135.99mph in the 1/4 mile and several 134mph runs as well - on 91 octane fuel and at full weight (nearly full tank of fuel, too). It might be the strongest 991.2 with an official trap speed that high.
