Default 991.2

Hi all, I'm new to the forums as I'm in the early stages of searching for my first 911 Turbo S. Can someone please confirm the 991.2 first released as the 2016 model in the US? I spent a good amount of time googling and found different answers.

I was originally hoping to pickup a 2014 or 2015 Turbo S, however I'm assuming the 2nd gen 991.2 sees alot of improvements or should I save some $$ and look for a 2014/15?

Cheers
Brett

Correct. I got my 991.2 as the first delivery from my local dealer in October 2016 as a 2017 model. The 2016 model was 991.1, and fairly rare.

thank you. I’ll continue my search for a 2014-2015 for the time being as it fits my budget.

Porsche continues to improve the 911 with each new version. The 991.2 version of the turbo offers several improvements over the 991.1 version, and many people consider it to be a better car. That said, the 991.1 is a wonderful car too, and you shouldn't feel like you're making a significant compromise by purchasing a 991.1.

Good on you. Its an amazing car, and there are some used ones out there that will fit exactly what you're looking for.

There's a few in the classifieds here as well. Good luck. The car is truly an amazing piece of machinery.
