Talking By Design 991.2TTS Tuning Looking Good and We Will have Stages 1-4 Done Soon!

Hey guys,

As many know of you I have been heavily involved with the 991 since it came out and thanks to an awesome team we have had lots to be proud of over the years. From our many developments and firsts, to making records, to running our Stage 4 kit successfully at Pikes Peak with Porsche, to a achieving a full variety of reliable, versatile and fun packages at every level. Mostly as I look back I am proud of how we have almost 150 By Design Stage 4 991's out there as well as hundreds of Stage 1-3 cars making their owners smile. I stand behind and personally support each and every single one and it's owner even as they exchange hands and appreciate every opportunity to do what I love for a living.

On to the 991.2! Since the car came out many have been waiting for a 991.2TTS Cobb AP. It WILL come and is being worked on by the best team I know. In the meantime I have many clients with .2 cars around the world who have my hardware set-up waiting patiently for another tuning solution. With some new coding out recently, several tunes have popped up and unfortunately I have heard some horror stories. Most are not Porsche specialists either. I do not think any have successfully mapped and gotten a car to run let alone tune for good gains. Unfortunately more than a few have bricked the clients ECU. Many have asked for something reliable even if it's temporary from a trusted source. So, I have decided to jump in and apply all I have learned so far to create a set of stages for my loyal clients and support them. We have Sage 1, 2, 3 and soon will even run our 68mm turbochargers and push Stage 4. After 5 months of development we have the new 991.2 VTG with all new TiAL/Xona comp wheels ready to go! Since November we have been pushing and I wanted to wait until we had some smooth and consistent power to show. I got a bit excited and we jumped to high octane so we could test and see how the car reacted and man are these cars strong! We are now polishing our pump gas set-up and are up to stage 2. My By Design 4.5 inch intercoolers will go on soon and we will finish Stage 3!

Below are some graphs showing where we have gotten so far. The goal is 600+ to the wheels on pump gas as Stage 3. Stock the cars put down about 490hp. With our By Design/Kline full Exhaust and stock tune and we are at about 520 to the wheels. On CA 91 pump gas we are making about 565-575 so far. That's about 75 plus to the wheels over a stock car at Stage 2. With high octane we have been able to get 640-650 to the wheels and with meth up to 686 on stage 2. You can see very consistent results and we have collected lots of data.

I am now comfortable telling my friends we are ready for those interested in something awesome now. On top of that when the Cobb AP comes out I will be offering price consideration to make the switch easy as I can for my guys who have been so loyal and just want o play now. There it is guys...Hit me up and Happy Holidays!

I am really excited about this and the potential of these cars!

What's a stage 1/2/3 setup? Does stage 2 considered as catless downpipes + xpipe?

Hi js,

Stage 1 has always been basically just tune
Stage 2 adds exhaust
Stage 3 Intercoolers
Stage 4 Turbochargers

In there we like using IPD and a BMC filter for great results and feel.

Strong Work Sam! Amazing to see the experience and expertise gained from all involved translate into the extraordinary gains realized in the 991.2TTS. Strong numbers with less bolt on mods. Kind of like a walk down memory lane where the consensus was that the 991.1 would never quite equate to the performance of the 997. SHATTERED that perception, broke records, became published, shipped worldwide and you continue to lead where others follow.

I know a lot of .2 owners are ready to get back into the game. A GREAT short term innovation prior to the imminent release of the fully functional Cobb AP.

Keep Winning!

We can make a custom file for you and should be able to write on other files or flash to stock then do it. That is why we are taking our time setting up for all configurations to take full advantage of all we can smooth and safe.

Hi Sam,

you hooked me up with the Stage 2 for my 14TTS back in August. I'm looking to move forward with stage 3 mid next month. What am I looking at as far as cost? I'm looking at a couple options right now, ByDesign, AWE, and Agency Power. Can you you tell me what's the different between those?

Hey Nam! There are several options. Research will be your friend here and narrow the list down. I can get you anything you like actually but I’m proud to say the By Design coolers are the most widely used and tested. We are running then on race cars as well as several 1000hp cars with great results and I stand behind them 100%. We can try to stretch out some holiday pricing for you too.
Merry Christmas!
