Default Porsche Driving Experience - Atlanta

Stopped at the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta last week on the way to the Rolex 24 Hrs. of Daytona. What a great way to test the newest cars at 10/10 to see what they are like. I was scheduled to drive the 992 Turbo S and the 992 GT3RS, but they would not let the GT cars out, as the temp was only 44 degrees at the start of the session, so it was a full Turbo S experience. The 992 Turbo S felt very at home like every generation of 911 and performed brilliantly on the road course. They have a simulated version of the Karussel from Nurburgring and a replica of the famed corkscrew from Laguna Seca, which were highlights of the road course a lot of fun to play with, plus several hairpins and S sections. And they have all the skid pad exercises, as well. BTW - The 992 Turbo S was an extremely nice drive.

Then at Daytona, Porsche Penske won!
It was the first Daytona 24 win for Porsche since 2010 and was quite a battle with the pole position Cadillac and the Penske Porsche 963 remaining within 2 seconds of each other for the majority of the 24 hours! The Cadillac was in 1st place until about 17 minutes to go, when the Porsche was able to pass and hold on for the checkered flag by a margin of 2.11 seconds after 24 hours! Another great Porsche experience in a week. Here are a few pics...

The winning car!

It was a lot of fun. The overall experience of being around Porsche cars and Porsche people at a nice venue with a great restaurant overlooking the track. I would do it again. I think you have one in LA.

Looks like a great time. I have been to the Porsche Driving Experience once back when I got my first C2S back in 2005. I signed up because I wanted to learn how to drive the 911 better and manage a rear engine
car. I had a blast. Drove with Hurley Haywood, and had David Donahue as my instructor for Auto Cross which I came in third following his suggestions. It looks like its expanded a lot since then and they have more
variety of cars to select from and sign up for. Great write up. You've spurred me to look into signing up again.

The Birmingham Porsche Dtiving School is the place to go as the Experience tracks are limiting.

it was original location of Experience. Much preferred. LA facility not as interesting as Atlanta as Atlanta is Porsche hdq and more expansive.

This. I was interested in the Atlanta option, but then I got to thinking the Atlanta experience seems more like a big commercial for selling Porsche models than a high performance driving education. The Atlanta experience still looks cool and it would be fun to test drive some other cars on their tracks anyway, but the real deal is obviously the Skip Barber option. https://www.porschedriving.com/track...orsports/track

Correct, Atlanta is the "light" version and Birmingham is the more intense venue. We knew people in Atlanta and got the VIP treatment there, which was a very nice experience. It just depends what you are looking for...

Birmingham is the ticket! The others are commercial sales support.....

You came Right near me! Sorry I missed ya.

Glad you enjoyed the experience center.

I agree, if I were going to spend money, I'd love to do the Barber Motorsports Park track in car. I've done Many track days there on TWO wheels back in the day!! Love that track.

Barber is definitely a bucket list track. I really enjoyed takes a TTS, GT3 , etc on that track , plus the skidpad and Offroad run. Great day.

I thought the Atlanta experience was a blast … have to be on the west track though. Did it back in November and it was killer… I’ll be back for sure.

I also thought the new West Track was a blast.
My coach, who raced with Keven Estre in France said he prefers the west track to Birmingham for "fun" because it's non stop dynamics vs. a more spread out larger track waiting to get to the more interesting parts. Birmingham would definitely be a more serious venue if you are looking to hon your racing skills and I think Atlanta is good if you are just looking to have some Porsche fun and push the cars around a high number of corners in a short time - the 180 degree hairpins were really cool. We enjoyed it so much, we booked the German version of Porsche Experience at Hochenheimring in April when we are visiting the factory during a European vacation. Looking forward to it!
