PCCB to Iron
Thinking of going to iron before you have to replace your PCCB rotors at a cost of approximately $24,000 or more??
WE have done over 50 of these conversions with 991 Turbos, GT4s and 991 GT3s and RSs. Cost for iron rotors and pads is $3800 and this includes delivery. All that have gone to iron are happy they did. Questions?? Give me a call 843 299 0997 Clark |

Mine have about 20 track days on them only, but I have had the pleasure of ruining a set of front PCCB rotors on this car previously, when the outside brake pads showed 4mm of pad left and the inside pads went down to the metal, ruining the rotors. It's really more that I want to make sure I have these when the next car is coming, and if I ever ruined a set of Girodisc...it's pretty cheap to replace them. Also, more aggressive pads will really chew up PCCB, and I am very interested in the Ferodo DS1.11 pads for the track.
I do not know if that's a defective set or some other cause. I know several people using them successfully without such issues. The only thing I can think of is that I drove a lot in the rain - probably 10+ rain days on them. Maybe the adhesive is not fully water-proof or some elements of the pad compound started corroding. But I'm just guessing. |

also i miss the consistency of PCCBs :surr: "Brake force earlier", if you are referring to initial bite it's usually more determined more by pads assuming same hydraulics. What are you running? Also the PCCBs have more swept surface area and thus more braking capacity unless you go to a more track oriented aggressive iron targeted pad to make up the difference. The Giros use less swept area to decrease static weight and rotational mass. On the TTS, GT3 RS pads with the PCCBs have worn well for me and stay quiet, I like the consistency also. Giro is definitely a nice cost effective combo though. |
What is the estimated switch out costs to go to the Giro set up? I know the PCCB's require giving up a limb for replacement.

Why aren't there a reasonably priced aftermarket option then? Like a corvette-style rotor just in Porsche shape? |

I would like to think/hope this will change and we will get some competition for this premium priced component.

Would like to hear from someone who has done the conversion and what their experience is on performance. I assume you are back to brake dust hell on the wheels again.
