Is 2012 Porsche 911 Turbo S Too Flashy To Drive To Work Everyday

Hello, I was wondering if a 2012 Porsche 911 Turbo S Too Flashy To Drive To Work Everyday. Also, how would it compare to driving a 2012 audi r8 to work everyday, flashy wise. The same, more, less? Thanks.

Depends on where you work.

But between the R8 and a TTS, definitely the R8 is more flashy by comparison.

Thanks, if you are working at a hospital, would the old version of the r8 be ok to drive? How about the 2012 porshce turbo s or 2017 porsche turbo s? Is that to flashy to drive?

Nobody's thinking about you as much as you are, get what you want.

A lot of this is a local culture question.

In general if it’s an issue, exotics are the taboo item. Most 911s are thought of as sports cars and don’t draw lots of attention. An R8 or a bright colored GT3 is getting more exotic.

No it's not. I don't think people even know Porsche makes more than one sports car. Between a 911 Turbo and a Boxster, people think they are the same car. Beyond that, most people could not care less..."regular" people are more into cross-overs and SUVs.

Actually, I got more compliments on the Cayenne loaner car than my 911 Turbo or previous GT4 ever got.

I've done about 40K miles of daily driving in one. Apart from Honda Civics and trucks trying to race me (I always ignore them), never an issue. But this is LA, and I often see Roll Royces, Bentleys, Lambos during my commute. Depends where you are, I think

Okay thanks, but would a turbo s be appropriate to drive to work, Would you drive a turbo s to work if you do or if you had one?

It really depends on what work you do. I drove my 997 Turbo, my 991 GT3, and Lamborghini Huracan to work, and I'm going to do the same with my 991.2 Turbo S. But it's my company and I'm not visiting or having visits from clients so it's no big deal. It totally depends on your workplace whether it'll look inappropriate or not.

Now if you have some loud color and driving to hospital then ya sure it is flashy.

But if you have neutral color and blends easily then no problem.

Wasn't there a doctor in Florida who had a Yellow TTS and got this CL stolen etc - it was years ago (there were pics)

You will encounter haters everywhere.

R8 is super flashy car when compared to TTS.

I am ordering a GT3 Touring b/c finally I can drive in peace. The damn wing on the previous generation creates too much attention.

And I love Miami Blue but for my Daily Driver TTS - the color is going to be graphite blue or chalk. I will have to reserve Miami blue for weekend car when I do not have to drive to work.

On Ferrarichat there have been tales of doctors, surgeons etc. with ferraris driven to the hospital. There was this surgeon whose crew played him a prank and attached a thing with two balls to his Ferrari car keys.

By comparison to any Ferrari, a Turbo S is tame.

An old friend of mine once told me “never drive a car to work that’s nicer than your boss’s car”
I think that’s a good rule of thumb to follow 😏

If you are that stressed out about it, then you've evidently answered your own question. Otherwise, for most people, the answer is no. I daily my 991.2 Turbo to work. No one cares.

The 911 is not a flashy car. That's part of the appeal.

Get the 911 TTS with model designation delete (or remove it yourself) and no one will know WTH it is anyway...

I daily drive my 2017 turbo cab to the hospital everyday. No one cares. Some of the other docs made some comments when I first got it but that was months ago. There are gtrs and other nice cars in the lot. The reason I like 911s is that they blend in far better than a Lamborghini or a Ferrari.
