Default Flat tire

I was thinking of getting the right tools for my CL but figured that in case of a flat tire in the middle of nowhere the nearest tire shop won't have the tire anyway. Wondering if anyone over here actually ever had a flat tire on his 991 TTS?

I am so happy I have a 5 lug TTS. I have had the same concerns. Unfortunately in my previous have had more than my share of flat tires by picking up screws and shrapnel from the road. Fortunately I was always either in the garage or close to home. And you are correct most likely you will have to wait for tires.

When I was looking for my TTS one of the requirements was the 5 bolt wheels for just that reason. If I do get a flat at least I or a shop can take it off and fix or replace the tire. Your SOL with center locks unless you carry the torque wrench. My suggestion to you is carry a plug kit that will at least get you home or to a dealership.

Thanks for the feedback. Guess I'll use the plug kit and get the tools to clean my rims at home.

No spare tire in vehicle whether you have CL’s or 5 bolt. Either way it’s a tow job unless you are successful with plugging/slime/pumping back up tire.

Yes to a tire plug kit. And when you do get new tires, always save one of each (front/rear) to get used as an emergency spare.

In my experience, it's easier to find a wrench than a tire by a factor of 100. I mean it - every Porsche shop, dealer or indi, has torque wrenches, and some other shops do as well, all friends have them etc. And in the worst case, ANY regular 3/4" head wrench will do just fine (small ones may need a piece of pipe as an extender) - the markings on the CL nuts are very effective in getting the right torque, at least enough to get to a dealer or home. But I just put mine in the frunk whenever I go for a drive longer than 1-2 hours from home. It fits along the further edge of the frunk on top of everything, so takes practically no extra space.

Tires are a different story - even Porsche dealers rarely have the right size and model in stock. I had to borrow tires from other Porsche owners twice in emergency tire damage situations.
