Discount on Used 2017 TTS Cab?
Car is on the lot. 9k miles. MSRP 213k. Asking price is 179k. Car checks a lot of boxes for me.
Assuming a 5% discount from MSRP, it sold for 202k. Which makes the current difference 12% from new. I'm inclined to look for another 8-9%.
Thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

The car has a lot of miles for MY17 depending on when it hit the road. Seems like reasonable discount on the face, but never hurts to press them lower due to miles, but can't see them coming down another $16K FWIW. Good luck!

I don't think 20% off MSRP for a 2017 TTS cab, even with relatively high usage, is realistic. Earlier this year when I was tracking CPO pricing, used TTS coupes/cabs from the 2014-2015 vintage were listed anywhere from 20-30% off MSRP for lower mileage examples.
I'd probably try 5-6% off the current asking price but be prepared to stomach closer to 3-4%. Are you in a warm weather area? That could affect pricing--not much demand for cabs in areas that see snow during the winter.

I am in the market for a '14-'16 TTS Cab, from my research they depreciate around 16% a year for the first 3 years from MSRP.
A '17 with 9K miles, MSRP of 213K, 16% drop would put the price at 179K, so if they are asking for 179K thats spot on.
If you really want the car, even if you pay asking price, is a fair deal, you should buy it.
However, as already said, it never hurts to ask

Why a 2017? Why not a 2014 and do some minor mods like headers, exhaust, and Cobb? Or, a stage 3 even? You'll save a lot, be lower in the depreciation curve, and it will be faster than a stock 2017 at a great price point. Even if you do a stage 4 and upgrade the turbos, you'll still be way ahead in the money saved. I don't think the differences between the 2014 and 2017 models are great enough to justify the price differential.
If you watch the official Porsche pre-owned site, great deals can be had on 2014s with CPO if you're patient and jump on them quick. I picked up a loaded 2014 TTS Cab with 11k miles for 36% off sticker price a few weeks ago that way. I called the dealer the day it popped up and was ready to go. Lots of overpriced vehicles are listed on the offical pre-owned site that sit waiting for impulsive buyers, but great deals do pop up every week that sell immediately.
Just my 2 cents...

I was stalking the Porsche pre-owned site every day. When it popped up that Saturday, I made an offer right away. I already knew that whatever price they came back with I was going to accept, since the price was already well below other comparable vehicles online by a decent margin. I didn't expect to hear back the next day (Sunday). I called and put the deposit down right after receiving the email. I had already seen a few other decent deals disappear while I was taking too long to make offers and make a decision.

Thanks very much for this thoughtful reply. I'm a guy who buys a car for 10 years so depreciation isn't that huge of a deal for me. Having nearly 6 years of warranty left matters to me. While I'm sure the extra go fast goodies are super fun, blowing the warranty (assumption here) isn't worth the tradeoff. Plenty of fast in the stock S for me. Thanks again for the meaningful reply.
