991.1 TTS and GT4 or 991.2 TTS
I've been going over these two options in my head for a bit and could use some input from more experienced Rennlisters.
My options:
(1) Keep the GT4 and pick up a 15-25k mile 2014 911 991.1 Turbo S and add bolt-ons and a tune to compensate for performance differences between the 991.1 and 991.2.
Or
(2) Trade in GT4 for a nearly new 911 991.2 Turbo S that's fairly loaded with options.
I'm guessing most people will say option 1, but I keep feeling seduced by the idea of having low miles and the latest greatest features of the 991.2.
I love the GT4. It's an incredibly engaging ride with awesome handling. It's everything and much more of what I missed from owning a Lotus Elise and Exige S240 over ten years ago. Where it lacks is in the throw you back in your seat department like I've had previously in other sports cars like the MP4-12C, 458 Italia/Speciale, and Alpha 10 GT-R (an absolute single digit quarter-mile monster).
Any opinions are appreciated, even if it's to call me a dummy, which I already voted for myself... LOL

Get it and the GT4. You'll love having two different flavors of Porsche. The GT4 won't depreciate much so it's a safe buy anyway.
.1 TTS is going to be a similar flavor to .2 TTS.

I voted for the two car strategy. The 991.1 Turbo S is awesome, and so is the GT4 (so I've heard; I haven't driven one). I'm pursuing a two Porsche strategy myself, although I'm looking for something from the air-cooled era for the second car.

Fat fingered the vote, sorry... dang iPhone screen
If you aren't custom ordering a 991.2 and excited for your custom spec I'd go with a used 991.1. A new 991.2 to your spec has more appeal. If it's not yours save the money now and maybe do a custom order with the next gen.
I went new 991.2 TT plus a Boxster track car / SPB race car project. Very happy.

The 991.2 is a better car all around over the 991.1...but I don't think it is worth giving up the GT4. And a 991.1 TTS is almost as quick in a straight line and provides a nice contrast to driving the GT4.

Thanks for all the responses and votes. Seems that most people think the differences between the 991.1 and 991.2 are marginal enough that getting a used 991.1 (and adding a stage 2/3) makes sense in order to keep the GT4.

However what are the advantages of the 991.2 from a driving experience perspective? Is it better steering feel and throttle response?

Get a low mileage 991.1 TTS for $60k less than a 991.2. Then spend $25k on mods (turbos and FBO) and be WAY faster than a 991.2.
I went through the same tortuous decisions and that's how I landed...and am very happy.

That's what I ended up doing. Picked up a loaded 2014 TTS Cab. I plan on going Stage 2 over time.
