Default Cobb Tuning PDK Software Now Available!

Hi guys!

The team at Cobb Tuning have been working really hard on this one. It's now available for all PDK models including the 991TT and TTS! I've been fortunate enough to be involved with a lot of the testing and it's pretty awesome. Feel free to inquire if I can help anyone out or get anyone sorted. Some really great information in the link below.

You just made a lot of us salivate, then, when we went to the Cobb website to place an order, we were smacked in the face with the fact that this is only for 2016 and earlier!

When is Cobb going to give us the goodies for our 2017 models?

Sorry if that came across confusing. This is for the transmission software only. I can tell you knowing everyone there personally they have been working very very hard on getting flashed tuning for the new models. It's a priority and there are several engineers dedicated to it. They will get it and myself as well as cob have a lot of loyal and patient gentleman like yourself waiting. Unfortunately we can't put a finger on it because it's like trying to find a needle in a haystack if you will. Keep your fingers crossed and rest assured it is being worked on diligently. The backbone has been ready for quite some time. The new cars are extremely difficult to modify especially through flashingand having all of the access port features. Can't wait!

Hi Sam,

Didn't you guys work pretty closely with Porsche and Porsche Racing for Pikes Peak? Can't they give you guys a key to find that needle in that haystack? Just ask them to slip it under the table. hahahahha

So what does it do, specifically?

It's very interesting. What is the price of PDK only tune for those of us who don't already have an accessport?

Also I don't have a good sense of what the changes will be like. I would ideally like the Sport mode on the 991.1 to behave like the Sport Plus mode on the 991.2 (i.e. less aggressive than the 991.1 Sport Plus which is useless for general driving).

Hey Stealth...guys,

It's 600 as an add-on for existing customers or 600 is added to the retail price of the unit once purchased. For now it will be offered in conjunction with Cobb tuning only. Customers will actually get all new updated tuning maps to take full advantage of the combo. But not impossible in the future I guess.

I really like the drive. Normal mode is now more like sport but in a suit. Not even in the middle but just more like normal in a more sporty GT cars like the GT3. And the characteristics and awesome as well as noticeable. Then more so in sport and Sport Plus feels like it's in RS mode. But all very smooth, well balanced and precise still. Even with aggressive clutch upgrades. Quicker, tighter and firmer. More power gets through the driveline as a tuned unit. More RPM and flexibility and range if you are "in the tight stuff" on turns close to redline for example. I know a few track guys who will love this. And like everything Cobb has done for our cars...There are three different versions or levels!

Please anyone feel free to ask any questions and reach out anytime.

Very cool Sam. Can't wait until COBB cracks the access for the 991.2. I'll be down for the PDK tune also.

Hi guys,

Here is my review of the PDK UPDATE-

First of all, thank you to Sam and Cobb for the support...always #1 on customer service!

1) Sport mode: Very subtle, but more crisp and sharp that stock.
2) Aggressive mode: Lighting fast shifts, more rpm, zero transmission lag.
3) Torque aggressive mode: Not for the faint of heart, the shifts are precise and really strong when they engage. You feel a hit every time it changes gears, reminds me of a 2002 M3 SMG on level 6, I am referring to the hit you feel...obviously our cars have way faster shifts even in stock mode, just relating the hit you feel.

Take care,

Manuel

Does the Cobb PDK software have a paddle neutral feature - which reengages gear once the paddles are released - like the 991 GT3?

A little birdie also told me the additional features journey has begun. GT3/RS + - shift configuration! Some ideas are floating around for some nice trim solution options for this.

Awesome work as usual Cobb Porsche Team!
