Is It Crazy to Order Lava Orange (Turbo)?? Will it kill resale?
2 Attachment(s)
Ive been dreaming about 911s for a year plus now and Finally after working my ass off decided to buy myself a gift for my 40th.....
Placed a deposit for a Turbo, Specs locked in Mid September with a early Jan delivery. Been Facinated with Lava Orange since I saw one drive by me years ago..... My build is Orange with Sport Mirrors, Painted Handles in Black, Black Glass Roof, Painted Side Skirts and Lower Facia ..... Will this kill any resale value in the future (Although this is a lifetime car!) Can somebody post some real world Lava Orange pics?? Heres the car I want to order: |
Love the color. My GTS build was top of MRM value or I would have gone Lava Orange or Carmine red. Lava Orange is stunning in person. Pictures don't do it justice. Congrats. Once you see her all your worries will be washed away. (Or left behind once you hit the gas pedal)

When treating yourself like this don't worry about resale, just order what YOU want and enjoy. I am a big fan of Lava Orange and it would be on my short list if I was ordering one.
|
No it's not crazy at all. If you really want the car in Lava Orange then get it. IMO, the worst thing that you can do is option the car for the next owner. Build YOUR dream car for YOU!!!

Here are a couple of pictures, one a GT3RS - but you get the idea.

IMO, great color on a GT3. Not a great color on any of the regular 911's including the turbo.

I'd do PTS in a 'real' Orange. I've never warmed to Lava Orange. It's an indecisive color: It doesn't know if it wants to be orange or red.

1) If you order you should 100% order the color of your choice not the best color for the second owner.
2) Ordering a new car would hurt the resale value more than any given color as opposed to getting a slightly used one. 3) If you plan on trading it I don't think the color makes any difference. 4) If you plan to sell privately it would probably take longer. Perhaps you may like as an example: MSRP: 232K Asking: 162K About 30% off for a 2016 TTS with 11K miles. https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...ff=share_other |
On the 3d mode I loved the Lava Orange. Seeing it later on the showroom floor I was glade I got white. After having many white cars, I wish I had gone another color minus black.
|
OP, I hope it's not crazy. I ordered a Lava Orange GTS today, optioned up to $149,450. But, I am not thinking about resale value. I just want what I want.
In case anyone is interested, here's my build: PJ25Y9W7 |
Needs model designation delete and PORSCHE in black $380.

You say this is a lifetime car. If so, get any color you want and don't think about resale.
Strong colors may be more of a problem if you "flip" Porsches every 2 years. |
I have had a 12 plus P cars over my life time. Never thought about resale. Always lost money. But I never thought of my toys other than as depreciating assets not investments.
Buy what you want and enjoy it. |
I've seen so many conservative colored Turbos... GO FOR IT
