1 of 1 MANUAL 991 GT3RS. THE CAR PORSCHE DIDN'T BUILD, BUT I DID!

The way I look at the whole reliability thing is to look at the parts being being used and who's installing them and step back a think for a sec, Porsche have been using and installing manual transmissions in the pre pdk era on most Likely 90% of all cars produced by them. They aren't new to this. In actuality Id be more concerned about the pdk equipped cars and the abuse they get put through shifting a 9K in 100/th's of a sec. Times that by x years and you have a lot of out of warranty repairs waiting. This manual stuff is as old as cars are. I'm not concerned. As for electronics, the things the dealer might need to replace under what warranty is left doesn't require them to mess with the brains of the car. I do my own maintenance so they won't see the car for a while. Only reason they have been going there is due to the fact that I'm shop less right now, under way though.

I'm not saying it would be the car that a track maniac would think is the car to die for. I honestly would not know. I'm totally lacking in any experiences that would even guide me to an informed opinion on that.
Now, back to the car that is the subject of this topic, I find that certain questions must be asked about the conversion.
In the long term, how reliable will it be?
How does it complicate maintenance, particulary if at some point it is taken to a shop other than BGB to work on it?
Is this going to give a "regular" qualified Porsche service tech a case of the screaming meemies?
Have the "adjustments" that were required to make it work been documented and packaged in such a manner that if another tech needs that information, it can be accessed?
Don't think I'm a naysayer, far from it, I think the project is pretty darned awesome, but building something today is one thing, while keeping it running for the foreseeable future may be quite something else entirely.
These are valid concerns, at least for the current and (possible) future owners and maintainers as well.

Maybe while at it ask about that 991CUP tub / GT3 driveline VIN tag conversion..

cmjohnson, you worry too damn much! Go make another funny video now. Put your talents to work. See what boredom does?? Too much time to think and worry.
Guess what, there is no boogie man and the chance of an astroid hitting us today is slim to none.
Enjoy the moment and stop acting like a nervous wife

Very late to the party, but just read the entire thead. A million congrats to the OP and to BGB. Best project and thread ever!!
I actually think that 45k for a project of this magnitude and attention to detail is good value!
Legendary stuff OP. Congrats again and thanks for sharing the entire process.

Welcome to the party, thank you very much!
I agree with your thoughts on the price, in the car world especially on the custom and modification side, 45K can get swallowed up very quickly and sometimes not have much to show for it. I think it is a great deal all things considered.

Awesome stuff RJ! Love it. I could care less for any of the nay sayers and detractors' opinions. Best aftermarket Mod for that RS model hands down. Unicorn for sure.

Thanks man, me either buddy, but it does make for interesting conversation hearing all the different opinions on it. Unicorn is right, I hope not for long though, can't wait to throw some videos up ripping through gears, I feel it won't be alone for long after that. Thanks for the compliments.
