CEL Reduced Power came on, now isn't?
Ok, about a 7 weeks ago I had a cel come on, safe to drive see dealership. Called dealer to make an appointment, 3 days later started the car and no cel, everything was fine so I didn't take it in to the dealer. Been driving the car(spirited driving) a lot before winter with no issues, then the other night I got a reduced power cel and another one that was just like the first time this happed. Shut the car off waited a couple minutes and when I started it back up, the reduced power cel was gone but the original cel safe to drive was still on. Didn't get a chance to read the codes because these seem to go away after a coupe days with the car sitting. Any ideas? It is a 16', g engine, 6000 miles. Oh, and I let the car warm up totally before driving, especially this time of year.

There's not much advice to be given without pulling the trouble codes from the car's computer. Whenever you shut the car off and back on it resets the computer but the trouble codes remain in the history. Since this is repetitive it is not a glitch or something of sorts. You need to take the car to the dealer regardless whether the CEL is on or not. And you have to do this for many reasons regarding warranty, including the fact that you are starting a paper trail in case something more serious is happening.
Good luck!

Just put my scan on my car- Key on, engine off-- 7E9-A/T=no codes stored under this
7E8-engine=(12 codes) PO300 Random/Multiple cylinder misfire detected
P306-CYL 6 MISFIRE
P302-CYL 2 MISFIRE
P304-"4"
P303-"3"
P305-"5"
then it gave me the next set of codes in order just like above(I imagine this is when the cel came on 7 weeks ago and then went away).
Then I started the engine and the "Engine Control Fault- see dealership- safe to drive" cel came up, ran a live scan and LIVE DTC_CUT 6 was on the scan.
This is just awesome, 2 months of ownership(bought it used) with this car and our relationship is off to a great start.

Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing. I bought the car used with 5100 miles on Oct 17th, I put on 900 miles and now this, pretty crazy. I guess that's a, welcome to the Porsche world to me, since its my first.

Also for everyone to know, these CEL's came on at initial start up only(engine cold), not while driving the car.

Hope it's a simple fix.

Hi Robbie. Sorry to be late here. Im almost certain this is a bad coil as Waxer says. The cylinder missfire numbers led me to believe this. There were a small batch of G serial MY2016 GT3 and RS IIRC that had a bulletin issued for coil/ignition pack replacements as there was apparently a faulty bunch of these packs supplied at some stage of production. Im almost this is what it is. It does not follow the cam/follower issue which is prevalent once you hit high rpm only. Im sure the dealer can sort this out quick smart and at this stage I wouldnt loose any sleep on this...

Rob: It will be straightened out. Try not to let it get to you. Know its hard. First, its under warranty. Second, as Macca said sounds like a coil issue. Too many cylinders messing up. Makes sense. Doesn't fit the cam issue profile as per Macca. Third, alot of G's out there being flogged without issue so far.
These are machines. They will all have some issues from time to time.
Hang in there. It will work out.

I highly doubt coils would fail on 5 cylinders out of 6. Remember these cars have coil on plugs for each cylinder and not 1 coil per each bank. This problem affects both banks of the engine. I'd probably think fuel before ignition. I'd be amazed if coils were a problem on so many cylinders, but I guess it's possible... Porsche had some problems with coils in some 911s and were prone to cracking, but usually after many years of use.
One thing I agree is that I don't think this is valve-train wear,as that usually manifests on one or two cylinders.
