My GT3 engine just blew up

Sorry to see these pics. However glad you are safe. This hits close to home as this car and mine were built about the same week and came in the same boat.
I would bet the motor threw a rod and punctured the block piercing an oil or gas line. What color was the smoke? Although the plastic fire may make it confusing. Catastrophic failure probably not related to the premature wear affliction.

No fun but honestly part of me would be relieved to know I'd be getting an updated motor/car. Nothing worse than driving around in a car with the constant nagging thought that you have to dump it before it runs of warranty because the motor is flawed.

Sorry to hear and painful to see.
Not like Porsche has new .1 GT3's sitting around. What would they replace with? Can't they just drop a new engine in and do a paint correction on the paint??
I'm sure this post might not be up long come a proposed warranty settlement. Not good PR once again for the Porsche GT dept.

Burning Brakes
I have to add the frustration of owning these GT3 cars, over the past few years has been disappointing to many, including me. Also, even after purchasing a number of cars, during the recent past, I have NOT found the support from Porsche or their dealers very comforting.
As a result, i'm taking a break until all of this mystery plays out. so, instead of wine I picked up a new McLaren and love it.
Let me know if I can do anything to help. In the meantime best of luck on your journey.
Best, Allan

Interesting. Hydrocarbon fires tend to be darker. White grayish sounds like steam. Hope you get a new car!

I think you had had a full exhaust with all mufflers deleted. And this may have caused a lean condition without a tune. Which could then cause overheating (potential fire). No?

If it was simply running lean that overheated the car, the temperature gauges would have climbed up for a while before the fire started. And with that idea the temperature would have been as much a problem in prior events as this event, so he'd probably have had a few high temp warning signs in the past.
Running a bit lean might have been a cofactor if that's what you were meaning.

Yikes! Glad you didn't test the fire proof abilities of any clothing. On to bigger and better things - put this behind you.
