991.2 RSR details announced in LA

A big surprise. It's still NA but mid-engine as expect. 4.0l, 375 kW (510 hp)

There goes all the speculation about the 991.2 GT3 being turbo. Hopefully people can shut up now about it. GT3 Cup car and RSR are both N/A. Makes ZERO sense for the 991.2 GT3 to be turbo.

It happened once before (GT1 in the 90's)

^all the "911" stickers are there to convince you otherwise!! ;)

i hope that wing and aero makes it to the RS or 2RS. A lot more emphasis on under body aero from the looks of the wide side skirts and diffuser.

And that you are very much correct about. I'm just glad I was wrong about the turbo. Something I'm very happy to be wrong about. The future is bright if the engine turns out reliable. Time will tell.

I think that stuff is only made possible by swapping the drivetrain around for mid-engine - don't think the road-going 991.2 3RS and 2RS will copy that.

And the nonsense that there won't be a .2GT3RS. :to_order:

I thought that happened with the 996.

Very excited to see what it can do out at Daytona.

This.

Can anyone else imagine the next gen 911 992? GT3/RS & GT2/RS being mid-engine like this and the 718? Wow.

reidry 11-16-2016 04:25 PM

I'll take one. Where do I put the license plate? :)

Does someone know why they chose not to go turbo, when most of the competition is? What will be it's advantage as it is NA? Why wouldn't Ferrari or Ford do the same?

Loess 11-16-2016 05:11 PM

The car looks great and I look forward to watching it race but is there even one piece on that car that is on a regular 911? This is getting so far away from production racing what's the point? Almost a Nascar Toyota Camry.

When is a 911 not a 911? When it's mid-engined and doesn't have one 911 body panel? Even the body in white must be significantly modified. I guess it must be the tail lights.
