Are you trading your 991.1 GT3 or .1RS for the 991.2 GT3?

Well ok yes the hope is always that PAG stands behind them and they very well might....the issue really isn't now, it's long into future if you don't fail under warranty. Porsche has not been as generous in past outside warranty even with known issues, IMS comes to mind but yes even in those cases they have provided goodwill (with dealers help also and in most, not all cases) outside warranty. I think the concern with apparent "known issues" is that goodwill after warranty doesn't necessarily mean they will cover 100%....maybe 50% of labor/parts, maybe 80%, maybe parts only and you pay labor, etc but In these after warranty goodwill claims owners leave upset that factory didn't cover entire thing since it was a known issue early.

Actually what fxz says is true here in NZ and I'm pretty certain in a number of other markets including UK. We can add up to 10 years of factory warranty to our cars, but there is an annual cost to this. It's a PAG approved extended warranty scheme and its marketed quite heavily. The cost is over 2k USD pa. unfortunately we don't get 5 year warranty out of the door like US, in EU is 2 years and in UK/NZ/AU etc is 3 years....

Alex, that rhodium silver with red accents did look awesome. I kept those pictures and always intended one day ton replicate that colour scheme myself. I can't believe others haven't done so. I think I may get my wheels painted red next year as they are all chipped up anyhow but I think it looks classier on the silver car...

Maybe .1rs for .2rs if it's similar NA car in some desirable crazy colors. If I buy a .2gt3, would be in addition to RS. If it is NA/4.0, I might have to sell something else in the collection to make room??? Not sure.
I've learned enough, over time, that I THINK the "newer, faster" gt3 will be a good replacement for the prior gen or half-gen RS; and then later I sell the newer gt3 and buy older RS.

Doubtful. A manual transmission option on 991.2 does not entice me like it would for many on this forum, nor would a turbocharged engine. A 4.0 liter NA motor might be worth the upgrade if the 991.1 holds value near msrp and I can buy a 991.2 at msrp. That combo does not seem likely.

Maybe OP should ask a new buyer
if at MSRP
he would buy at 165k a 991.2 GT3 NA 4.0 Manual/PDK
or at 200k a 991.1 RS 4.0 PDK with 2/5k miles

I wouldn't buy a .2 GT3 if it's 165K MSRP. I'd lose too much on my 130K base MSRP .1 GT3.
However, the counterpoint is that the higher the .2 GT3 MSRP, the better the .1 GT3s will hold their value given their low starting MSRP and the incremental performance improvements in each Porsche generation.
It will take a 4.0L engine with some more torque to induce me to buy a .2 GT3. Just tweaking the 3.8L engine for another 20HP, without a torque increase won't be enough for me.
