GT3 RS 991.2 - Any Information?
Hi everyone,
I am very new here!
I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the next generation GT3 RS (991.2).
Thanks very much,
Matt

Historically there is at least a two to three year gap between iterations of GT3RS's (2003-2004:996, 2006-2009:997, 2009-20011:997.2) but then we missed the 2013 cycle altogether and then came the 991:2016. There may be some info down the grapevine that there may be a GT2RS after the GT3. So perhaps Fall of 2017 may see the announcement of the GT3 and perhaps Fall of 2018 may be for GT2RS which would put the announcement of GT3RS into the Fall of 2019. Who really knows? At this point all this amounts to conjecture.

Too early for the GT3RS-2 but EVO finds present TTS-1 on Pirelli P Zeros as fast as GT3RS-1 on Cup 2 Tires
at Anglesey. IMHO, With Porsche estimating TTS-2 Nurburgring Laps at 7:20 the GT3RS-2 would more likely be a 991 GT2RS on Cup2 tires. Tough for any N/A Engine to get anywhere close to Turbo's Torque.

I heard the next GT3 RS will be based on the 965 - run a mid-engined V8 and limited to 965 units worldwide.
OP - about all you've done is given your dealer an interest free loan for a car that may or may not exist. But don't worry, Tesla just raised over $365m of debt doing the same thing

Going from the 997 generation I am going to say that a new GT3 is coming out for the 2017 model year (one year behind) the refresh as it did in the 997 gen. Basically there was a 2009 refresh and then 2010 the GT3s were out. Anyhow.. like many have said, the cleaning lady knows more then I do

I've seen a number of pictures and references to the 991.2 GT3 where they expect the car to be released in the 3rd or 4th quarter of this year. Hopefully that will come to pass. Porsche is leaving a lot of money on the table not meeting the demand for the GT3 and GT3 RS.

Porsche's previous 7:18.00 Lap times of the 997 GT2RS could not be reproduced by any independent source. Sport Auto's best test drivers recorded the fastest 997 GT2RS Nurburgring lap time as 7:24, 6 seconds slower and only 3 seconds faster than the 997 GT3RS (620HP vs 500 HP) - which makes me pretty suspicious of Porsche's claims. Hard for me to believe that the 20 additional HP (3.4%) will drop the 991 TTS-2 time SIX Seconds over the TTS-1. Hmm....... Really??????

The next GT3 will be announced in March of next year in Geneva, with deliveries to Europe and to the US in the summer/fall of 2017, respectively, as a MY 2018 car.
Most or many feel the next GT3 will come with a 4.0L engine and a manual option.
The next RS will likely be PDK-S only. The real question will be regarding the .2 RS engine.
Will they massage a few components to raise to HP to 530 without a torque increase as they did with the 997 RS or in response to the "ring" threat from the TTS, will they increase the RS displacement to 4.2-4.3L?
