I've got this damn "engine control fault" light again in Spa this Saturday. Track day was ruined, and so were 2 more track days I had booked for 2 next days. Plus the trailer to Germany and back.

What a piece of crap! Once Porsche will fix it, I'll sell it.

I had a time to decide if I want .2 or not till tomorrow. Well, tomorrow I will call my dealer and tell them they can give my allocation away. I'm fed up with this.

Nothing makes me as cranky as a lost track day!

Happened a few times with the 997’s but never during my 60 Track days in the last two years..

Any idea what’s failed?

Wow man, Sux to hear about your continuing issues with the .1..
I hope you consider taking the .2 and running it.. Perhaps you will be rewarded with a solid performer!
GL!

Thanks
read the post , Porsche said the new warranty is not for the R or RS as those engines are unaffected

Thank you. That is why I askedbecause, Porsche claims that there is enough difference in the RS/R engine sothat it is not affected. However, I'd like to see more empirical evidence fromthe users because I think there hasn’t been enough samples to prove that it isnot prone to this problem as there are a lot of RS out there that are collectors’item. Just want to make sure there is no bug in it.

I am in a GT group in UAE many RS in the group. None have had the issue. One RS has over 30,000 km. All the RSs in the group go to the track.

Trackcar also said he has 60 days on his RS and no issue. As long as your car is under warranty then i would not worry. If you really want to be safe though then get a .2 since you can probably get it for lower than an RS. If you must have an RS then i think it has been enough time / mileage / 6000 plus cars with yet an example of this problem.

FYI, the GT3.1 was produced in way less numbers than the RS.1

My RS just passed 20000km no problems.
Friends RS has done more but he got a new engine because of the oil consumption.

Thank you Trakcar, GT3 KSA and Kobalt.

Is the Oil consumption issue common for the RS ?

I'm sure it will be "cylinder misfire".

Looks like a buddy of mine's 2014 GT3 has probably fallen victim to the finger follower issue. Popped a CEL at AMP two weeks ago, dealer said it was a bad plug. First session back out at AMP on Wednesday it threw the CEL again. Dealer is now pulling the motor to "take measurements to send to Porsche". Expectation is they will approve a new engine. Getting this all 2nd hand of course. I'll update with whatever I hear from him.

^^^Right.

FYI - Dealer has inspected the engine and confirmed finger follower damage. Waiting on Porsche for the go ahead on the new engine or top end or whatever they're doing now. Will update with what they elect to do.
