Sure, 10 years warranty is much better than we had before.

I'm just referring to a statement that all new engines that will be given to us are now rock-solid with issue completely fixed. I took it with a grain of salt right away, and I'm still not sure the issue is completely fixed even on newest incarnations. Even more doubts about 2015 engines. I personally know 3 of 2015 (not just MY2015, but production 2015) car owners that are already on their second engines.

That what it says on the label that came with the engine. Porsche tests all the engines before they send it out to their customers. The power should be 475 hp +/- 5% tolerance. Mine making a bit less 459 hp. I wonder what power other engines make.

I get all that, I just don't like it. I'm very curious to see what others have been also. I hope the new top end isn't affecting performance since it is an afterthought and not original design. 16 hp is very noticeable on these cars.

Isn't that horsepower difference just DIN vs SAE?

Can the DIN numbers be as much as a 16hp difference than SAE or KW?

I thought the spec on torque was 440Nm? So this engine is 23 under?

And if the replacement engines have heads with the problematic inclusions then it is very disappointing! So another 10 year warranty starts the day you install it or what?

If I have a customer who brings back a batch of product that is problematic I would never replace it with more of the same. Never.

i don't think we should be jumping to conclusions. We don't know the circumstances surrounding this engine. If this is from old stock there's no guarantee it even has the FF issue. I would not be unhappy about this. If the engine fails down the track at that point the engine will be revised. I have no problem getting another new engine years down the road.

Just got an update on my engine:

"It appears that the timing jumped, I am sending all information needed to the factory to get authorization for replacement and eta on parts availability and shipment, I will update you when I receive word."

That sounds like the valve lifter issue, doesn't it? Also, I'm a bit worried by the service advisor mentioning replacing "parts" rather than the whole engine. The engine was grinding and leaking oil badly, so I'd definitely prefer whole engine replacement.

Timing jumped? Not sure max, but based on your description of what was going on with the engine, I would be very surprised if you don't get a new engine. Can you ask them if the finger followers were worn?
