Yes; I agree with your logic here. I can feel my motor go. It's limped 5-6 times in 10,000 miles with a replaced spark plug to which remedidated the issue but I can hear the car bog down some times but not often. I'm sure it's on its way. I will ring it out until it pops.

To all north-eastern non-G engine owners that don't track I'm offering a 20% discount for my tracking services next spring to take your car to the track until the engine pops. Would be run in Black run group instead of wasting time in instructed groups. Will consider group buy discount. Great way to ensure you have the latest G engine before warranty expires. Apply soon!

Stopped by PoM and took this from the FEDEX box that was around the engine stand for shipping. Confirms direct shipment from Germany to Melbourne FL! 3 days! That is fast!

Interesting where it says Ttl Val 15639.68. So I wonder what it would really cost to buy one from the dealer?

Comical. Normally people look forward to their new cars but here people await new engines. Sad but it is a reality.

Meanwhile I have still had no luck cracking my 2015 F engine. I have no doubt it will fail if I keep the car. But 19000 kms of mixed track and road use have not broken it yet. Not a single error message yet. Around me I see and hear of many failures and "reduced engine performance" messages that will eventually lead to failure.

We talked about purchasing my old engine. What they told me was about 60k USD with the core being 24K USD of that. So not sure what the value represents. That core charge sure keeps people from out right purchase and installing in other models!

Edit: double check that price of 60 not 50k!

Interesting.

So if you have a core, you could upgrade to a new engine for about $24K instead of rebuilding at a cost of possibly more than half that amount.

Maybe I'll make sure I get to 50K miles at 4 years, with as high a percentage of track miles as possible, and then open up the engine to see how it looks. If major rebuild is needed, swap it to get a new engine and then I'm good to go for several years (and I assume the new engine would come with new warranty?). And if the engine blows during the warranty, then I get a new engine at no cost anyway. In other words, keep the car, drive it, and enjoy!

Wow 36k for a factory one assuming the core was accepted. Odds are it may not be either.

What's the cost of a regular 991.1 3.8 engine minus core?

I'm glad I didn't get a gen 1 gt3 as I highly value engine longevity wether I run the miles up or not. Hats off to all the drivers out there racking up the odo to get the new engines that tbh everyone should get if this problem is as persistent as this thread suggests.

I wonder how the market will treat bubble wrapped low mile .1's that haven't had a replacement?

So is it fairly to say that the prevailing opinion at this time is that the .2 will have a more durable engine?
