So... finally home after a too long trip (Thank you Scandinavian)...
Disclaimer: Sorry about the poor quality of the video and the pictures. We forgot to change the recording quality.
RCN5:
2nd place in class
3rd place in group
25th in total
149 cars started
46 DNF
The race was interesting in two ways. It was very warm, >30°C and there was a crucial Code 60 (Max speed 60kph) at the beginning of Döttinge Höhe.
The Code 60 was during the confirmation lap of the faster starting group. (You have to do the same time as you did in your first lap. If you fail you get 10x the time delta added to your total race time.)
I was was a bit lucky(!) because on the lap before my confirmation lap a guy went off-track in front of me (After Pflantzgarten). All my competitors was most likely infront of me so they did not have this info.
Therefor I took this into consideration when I drove my confirmation lap.
To my surprise there where no Code 60 where I expected it to be.
Instead the Code 60 was a little bit further way - the driver had tried to go to the pits but failed.
Now he was parked at the entrance to Schwalbenschwanz.
So, now I was bit before my target time and that was really good as I went to Galgenkopf there where another yellow flag followed bu double yellow and then the Code 60 that changed the outcome of the complete race.
The Code 60 was all the way just before Bridge, so basically the complete Döttinge Höhe.
In the end we ended up being 28s off our confirmation time which rendered us 280s time penalty.
The highest penalty in our class was 560s (It is like having a really slow extra lap).
So the combination of fast driving (not super fast), luck and strategy gave us the 2nd place. If we where 8s faster during the confirmation lap we would have won the class.
Personally I was very happy with my results. It looks like I'm getting more and more comfortable with the car.
I compare my virtual best laptime with my co-drivers and so far I've improving really well:
Race Lap time delta
RCN3 21s
RCN4 8.4s
RCN5 1.8s
Next race is in the middle of September.
Not the fastest lap but there are some nice overtakes and action in this clip:
There where a very bad accident at the end of the race. Initial reports says that the driver got away from it with minor injuries. Keeping fingers crossed for the guy.

Forgot, my co-driver lost 4th gear during his stint. Later it turned out that 3 out of 4 (I think it is four) gearbox mounts where broken.
Glad we made it to the end - our mechanic not as happy.

When I was done driving for this trip a friend from my hometown turned up in this VW Hotrod.
He had driven it from Finland down to the Ring together with two of his friends.
The front is VW and the end is Porsche.
I don't remember the exact weight but but it was less than 1000kg.
Gearbox is 915 and engine is 3.2 liters carburetor engine. I'm not sure exact what engine it is...
Plan is to change to G50 gearbox and an injection engine.
Really nice build

Here are some "incident" videos from the weekend...
I'm about to overtake when the other car decides that he has not seen me...
I'm glad I lifted in time.
Trying to overtake two cars doing follow-me.
Last car behaves nice, first one not so much.
IMHO it is the first car that should have seen me much earlier and indicated so the following car knew I was there. The staying on the right side.
Follow-me again, this time two Megans. Second driver a bit to hot.
I'm on a warmup lap.

Well, Red was the new White.
As the Red Beast now is in the hands of the Devil I'll revive this thread.
As it looks like I'm going to fill the thread with our Cayman GT2RS, more on that later, the 997 GT3 and the race car, BMW M3 E46.
"Three races and a funeral" could be the name of this continuing story.
Me and racer friend is doing the following two RCN races on the Ring and then we are scheduled to do our first VLN Race.
The RCN races are done in the BMW M3 E46 which we have using this year. Now the gearbox is attached to the rest of the car again and the rear end of the car is upgraded with nice parts made of expensive materials.
We will drive the VLN in a BMW 325 in the V4 class.
We must do at least two races where we are among the 75% best in order to get the so called Permit A which will allow us to drive the BMW M3 in VLN and in the Nürburgring 24 hours race.
VLN will for sure be a nervous experience.
Thursday I'll drive down to the Ring - not in the fabulous 2018 GT2RS as planned - but in the slightly slower but so much loved Yellow Snail aka Cayman GT2RS.
Plan is to stay there for a month.
