I didn't think Black was PTS? I thought Black , Java and Speed Yellow could be ordered for a premium? Gold wheels well that is PTS :-)

PTS and the R...
exterior colors to be ordered - 'Black', 'Racing Yellow' & 'Miami Blue' -
on that model, but only if you already were scheduled to get PTS.
They did this supposedly to expedite orders since true PTS (any color
from the approved list) was in high demand & production dates were
being pushed into late Spring/early Summer 2016 dates. And some
people didn't want to wait that long to receive their gt3 RS cars!
trying to bring a level of clarity & transparency to the program so that
as many customers as possible understand how it works & how best
take advantage of it. When asked point blank at some very high levels
why there is such a restriction on availability, their answer has been
simply that demand has outstripped their ability to supply it. We
know that it takes approximate a lead time of 3 months from a
verified PTS order (accepted by PAG) and the scheduled built date
of the particular car. In the case of the limited edition R which is
already being scheduled for production in the near future, each
passing day the possibility of true PTS becomes more remote.
The compatibility of the paint to the R's various metal & plastic surfaces
is not a mystery...they equally applied to the 991 gt3 RS & you now
see the variety of true PTS colors that has been done with that model.
Bottom line, PTS is a bit of a pain in the behind for PAG's production
planners & engineers. The cost, even at the new premium of nearly
$7K, is barely worth it complicating their assembly line logistics with
it. If it's true that they have allowed 'Black', 'Racing Yellow' & 'Lava
Orange' (and I trust C.J. has his information correct), it's just a bone
thrown out to customers that want a bit of deviation from the limited
standard colors offered...but it doesn't truly qualify as true PTS. Other
than 'Lava Orange' (which is a 'Special' color for $3,140 on the 991),
the other two so-called PTS colors on the R are no cost options on the
991. And for that privilege you pay fully $6,950! This is a 'faux' PTS
mini-program that doesn't represent true PTS very well!
True PTS (other colors from the multi-page available colors published
by PAG) might yet be allowed on the R...but I have reason to believe it
will be quite limited & only offered to the most elite VIPs of the already
991 'Very Important Person' selected to order this very desirable Limited
Edition vehicle. So only the 'crème de la crème' might get to own true PTS
on the R this time around.
