My life is ruined - thanks to a GT3
My life is ruined
I'm the owner of a 2002 996 C4S Modified with intake, exhaust, suspension etc It's a great car, I love it, it serves me well as my DD, brings a smile to my face every time I open the garage to get in it and every time I drive it Unfortunately I made the mistake of driving a 2015 991 GT3 last weekend for an extended drive through some beautiful twisty undulating mountain roads I got to really open her up What a car What an experience My face still hurts from smiling and giggling Now, I am suffering withdrawal I need to satisfy that fix - of the sublime chassis, great steering, sonorous sound that is the GT3, that 9000 rpm redline, PDK.... What to do Do I really need two kidneys, does the family really need a roof over their heads, do we really need to eat every day I need to figure out how to get one in my garage Help!!!! |
Been there...you can definitely get by with one kidney !

My rule of thumb, never drive anything you are not prepared to buy. It just creates the lust.

I have driven a 458, 650s, and Huracan, but have specifically never driven anything beyond the price level of those models. I still plan to acquire a 458 spider in a couple years, but buying anything that costs more than a 458 would adversely affect my long-term financial planning. |

Good thing that the 991.2 RS is a few years away, gives me time to prepare. |

Last year was told by my dealer that I wouldn't be able to get a GT3 because the wait list was too long, I was prepared to get a GTS the end of this year, went to PCNA HQ in Atlanta and decide to do the hour and a half drive in the GT3, couldn't stop thinking about it just like you, emailed over 20 dealers, and got an allocation, now waiting impatiently until the end of December

Help!!!! Start looking and wait to trade-up to a pre-owned one until the right car shows-up at the right price for you. Then jump in and start the process of upgrading the car every time a new edition one comes around. The resale value is very good if you get out quickly, just as you get an allocation for the next gen. This way, the cost of ownership is actually negligible. Of course, that presumes the new car is slightly better than the one you're in. If it turns out the other way around, or if some desirable features are dropped, your resale price could actually exceed what you paid. Once you're in, you're in... Just keep rolling, just keep smiling! |

Driving the aventador would not have been a problem Jimmy. A ludicrously beautiful fat pig.
To the OP - just wait until you track the car! Then the lust will truly set in. Depreciation is so low, make it happen! You know you deserve it :) |
I did get a chance to try the Aventador and honestly wasn't too impressed
Not a precision instrument like the GT3 Wondering what 991.2 GT3 will be like |
