Anyone is going to this event? I think some of you guys in Norcal do track with TMR. Would love to meet you guys and absorb some of the wisdom, I do need it.

Oil temps were the same as any other day (I was there too), but driver temps were in the danger zone, close to seeing things that are not there. But I'm coming on 19th anyway - it's not necessarily going to be 110F in the shade again, and there are no other weekend track days that do not overlap with my travel till September.

Yeah, anything over 100 gets painful to track.

Strap it on fellas! I raced motorcycles there for years in temps over 100. Try wrestling a motorcycle around the track in leathers boots and gloves. Glad those days are behind me..at lest now I can turn on my air conditioner)) I'll be there on he 24th for the 5 mile day.

I was up at Thunderhill last week doing some coaching. I talked with Shannon, one of the managers, regarding the active construction I noted going on up on the hill between east and west. I think he mis-understood my question, as he explained that they were going to install a bypass on the west side, between 7W and 10W. I was thrilled, as this has been my main feedback ever since the new section opened (I've also griped that I wanted "normal" sized curbing, instead of that short and narrow curbing they installed). I asked him later if they had an estimated completion date yet, but the answer was no.
As you can see in the map, the bypass would effectively eliminate the three hairpin turns. I'll miss 8W, but otherwise, those turns really ruin it for me. The bypass should be awesome!

Forget that, I'm never going back to Thunderhill again in 110 F weather!
Plus half of the GT3s threw reduced engine performance warning lights... can't be happy.

Yeah, I can see club racing and maybe SCCA doing the 5 mile with the new bypass. But even then, I doubt the 25 Hour race will do it. The west side is just too narrow. It would be a conga line and a crash fest all at the same time.

Do you guys use factory recommended 0w40 or 5w50 for oil? I wonder if mixing a quart of 0w50 or 0w30 Mobil1 racing oil will do any good for the engine by bumping the zinc on moly levels, especially in hot weather.
