As usual, I'm sure you're right Pete. I guess I'm getting jaded by all the PR from the usual suspects and, Walter is an old school exception to the rule.

By the way, very nice avatar, hope that's yours.

With every new generation cars are becoming better, faster, safer, easier to drive and perform, packed with new technology meant to make life easier. I don't expect reviewers in general having to say too many negatives about the new models from top manufacturers these days. And that's simply because cars are indeed better.
With that said,I'm personally reaching a point where I prefer less rather than more. Or to borrow a famous line : " less is more ".

Certainly agree with the "less is more" comment.

Walter is a true Gentleman in every good and honest sense of that word. His smooth driving style reminds me very much of Juan Manuel Fangio, another driving idol I much admired when tracking my older MG-TD, TR2 and old XK120M which fell within the limited budget of a college kid woking his way through Night School at Hunter College. I've long since abandoned any hopes of coming anywhere close to those talented drivers, or the highly talented youngsters now on the racing scene that started racing go-karts as 5 year old prodigies. But thanks to the huge technical improvements in all the newest Sports Car models, us Old Guys may not be able to stay with these young Turks on the Track by out-driving them, but fortunately we can by out-spending them. LOL

Interesting that he turned OFF the Stability and Traction Controls before starting his run, but found it necessary to turn them both ON again after passing through the First Turn while transitioning the Second Turn.

Another written review by Chris Harris in this month's road and track - haven't seen it online yet, but will see if I can scan it today.

I thought we'd be seeing instrumented tests by now.

Chris Harris Road and Track review:

"Bursting with character and ability, the 991 RS deserves the badge as much as any of its predecessors. If you have even the slimmest chance of owning one, do so."

OK, RS is awesome ... but how much better than vanilla GT3 and in what areas? I still don't know.

At least $45K better

"But this 991-chassis RS seems a whole lot angrier than the GT3."
"Accordingly, it's no surprise that the RS uses a heavily amended engine. The 3.8-liter flat-six has been stroked to 4.0 liters and has a new intake system. Its crank is cast using metallurgy techniques honed with the 919 Le Mans race car. Peak figures are eye-popping for a naturally aspirated 911: 493 hp at 8250 rpm and 388 lb-ft at 6250 rpm.

The development team is mighty pleased with the Turbo-body side intakes: They allowed a much more accurate and concentrated airflow for the revised intake system"

That said nobody needs an RS over a GT3. But the want, the WANT!!
