Mmm. Thats the reference. As I said sounds expensive!

Manifold, very sorry to hear about your split front bumper. Totally gutting experience as there is simply nothing you could have done to avoid this! Hope it gets sorted soon. Luckily the front PU isn't made of exotic unobtanium!

No worries, it'll get sorted. Nothing compared to what you and your community have been through recently. Glad to have you back in the forum!

Sorry to hear that. I was in similar predicament last August with my 2014 GT3 ... small animal bounced off the front fascia resulting in two limited cracks and bent grill mesh. Spoiler had minimal scuff mark. Insurance paid for new OEM parts: fascia ($6,421), Grille mesh ($490.77), spoiler ($219.68) ... add labor/misc and bill was $9,101.

However, fascia structurally sound/repairable, at approximately $700 including primer application. Do the repair and keep the fascia/spoiler as spare for future use or resale.

Life goes on ... these cars are meant to be driven.

Photos show new installed front fascia/mesh/spoiler, on left in picture, and cracked fascia prior to repair/primer on right.

Yep. And I understand he recently added a 987 Boxster Spyder to his collection. Very cool.

On the other hand if it was made of carbon I'm sure it would have been mentioned.

Edit: You can see the welds on Porsche pictures.

Magnesium sheet wide enough to make the roof is made in only one country in the world, South Korea. The metal is then stamped to shape in Canada and primed for painting in the US, before being shipped to Germany.

Other weight-saving parts, including carbon-fibre for the front guards, luggage compartment lid and rear wing, and plastic for the rear window and fixed side windows, come from a 500km radius around Porsche's factory at Zuffenhausen, near Stuttgart.

"This makes me very happy," says bodywork project manager Christoph Bauernfeind.

Thanks for the info. I expect to go the same route (with added expense of clear bra), keeping the existing stuff as spares. I think my fascia can probably be adequately repaired from the back side.

Another good reason to not have clear bra :-)

I was really on the fence about that decision, but with number of track days I plan to do, and the amount of rock kicked up at a couple of the tracks, I feel more at ease letting the clear bra take the beating instead of the paint.
