Swap my clear tail lights for your reds?

Finally took delivery of my white '15 today and managed to put about 35 miles on it despite the dark, rainy weather. As most of you know, these things are amazing--I can't imagine the sound of it above the 4K break-in limit.

My car came with a few options that I would not have ordered if I had spec'ed the car myself, so I'm looking to make some trades. First up: the clear tail lights. They do look better in the flesh than I expected, but I'm a traditionalist, so I'd like to trade for some low mileage standard red lamps. You could pay $540 at Suncoast for the clear kit, or I could pay $1,120 for two replacement red lamps (don't ask me why they cost twice as much), but why do that when we can do a straight-across trade?

Seattle trades preferred, but we may be able to work something out if you're remote.

We discussed this on this forum previously to order red and get the clear later. Give it some time you will love the clear. Turn on the parking light and take a look at the back. Good to be different.

I agree you should keep the clear tail lights and change the corners to clear as well. They look cool with the lights on.

got clear on mine as well.. Kind of like them.

Clears on white looks great IMO. I initially spec'd clears with my sapphire blue but then I got to looking at a couple of other SB's and I decided I wanted the red tails as I think they go with the red calipers so Ichanged back and saved $600!! The front orange blinker will be changed out for clear LED's before I even drive the car though!!
If I were you I'd keep the clears with the white. Congratulations on the new car btw.

I like the clears as well, his and hers.

They look very cool at sunset with lights on. They are one of my fav. I would have paid 2k for them.

OP - I am in Seattle and happy to swap for clears - my reds have under 100 miles on them

GT-B 03-24-2015 02:00 AM

It does have extra appeal at night

GT-B, your car is stunning! Don't think any color looks better than black in low light.

Well, I still haven't warmed up to my clear tail lights. Now that track season is over, is anyone interested in swapping?

Resurrecting this thread...

Anyone with perfect Red Tail Lights willing to switch for perfect Clear Tail Lights?

Northern Virginia preferred but will also consider a via FedEx/USPS trade.

PM if interested.

Thx,
RP
