991 GT3 as a daily driver? call me crazy

Hi all,

I am very very close to get a 2014 MY GT3. It is getting the engine replacement very soon. It has pretty much all the options except pccb and lift system. ( I plan to let the front lip scrap and replace it occasionally )

1. Automatically Dimming Mirrors with Integrated Rain Sensor, I absolutely hate the glare and could this be retrofit? I bet there will be tons of cars tail gating the GT3.

2. Bucket Seats, It is too hardcore for a daily and the back cannot be reclined. Can I throw in Sport Seat Plus and get the wiring hooked up so I can at least get a 4 way adjustment?

3. Roll Cage, Can it be uninstalled/installed easily? I would love to throw in shopping bags, gym bags, groceries, water bottles, etc to the rear when I am just commuting.

4. Seat Belts in Guards Red and Hands free bluetooth, I think sun coast can retrofit these easily.

Base on the reviews I watched from youtube. It seems the new GT3 can be a nice daily driver. I am based in Hong Kong and I would want to enjoy the GT3 everyday rather than garage queen it.

Any inputs would be appreciated!

Thanks for the inputs. I assume 90% of GT3 owners will only drive their cars on weekend to track events or on beautiful sunny days. I want to get this GT3 end of this month and enjoy it as early as possible. :reckon:

This is base on my personal guess if I sell the car end of the year.

A. 2014 MY GT3 sticker price 160,000 with 10,000 miles on it
B. 2014 MY GT3 sticker price 160,000 with 3,000 miles on it

I guess with A get 4 ~ 6% more hit from the deprecation. But I get to enjoy it much more. By the end of the year, GT3 are still very hard to get and I think it will holds it's value quite well.

automatic transmission and cup holders make for a great daily driver in the new GT3.

HK? What a waste for GT3 when 1st gear is sufficient 95% of the time.

Any super car is a waste in HK anyway.

Just wondering if u get any compensation from Porsche HK after the stop sales?
Did u get a confirmation date when your gt3 will be ready?
Sorry did not answer u any question but keep on asking u question😁.

Without the lift system I would be having troubles all day long. Hopefully you really don't mind! Other than that it is the best car you can drive. That sound is absolutely amazing!
Wouldn't mind removing a muffler but that is just me. ;-)
Hopefully you'll get your car soon!
Best,
H

Congrats on the purchase, as for DD in HK depending on where you go, distance traveled, parking etc...it would be more of a show stopper than fun driving experience IMHO. Doubt you'll ever hit 8-9K rpm without the risk of running into taxis, buses, stop lights etc...

You can always try to let loose on Victoria Peak and the mountain areas around there, as long as you don't get caught ;)

I see it as no big deal. I'd drive a Cup as a DD if I could register it.

Dimming mirrors work like crap in my 2010, why? Lights from behind cast a shadow on the mirror where the sensor is...
BTW the sport bucket seats are the BEST, especially on drives of long duration (6-10 hrs) the support is great.

Nothing wrong with daily driving a GT3. Now, a GT3 as your only car - that's a huge compromise.

Mine will be a DD.

I think you could do it if you lived in a mild /warm climate obviously impossible to do in snow, If you are going to be mostly in first gear in HK, I'd buy a regular 911 or a targa, the GT3 motor at low rpms sounds grumbly and unhappy and is somewhat rough, youve got to get the rpms up for the motor to sing

I have been DDing my GT3 last 10 days since new engine and love it. I have clubsport spec with cage and buckets and they are no issue. My buckets are heated for long trips and winter driving (now). I have auto dim side mirrors and rear vision mirror and auto wipers and they all work perfectly - as good or not better than my previous M5 daily. I do not have lift and I manage fine - just have to think about approach angles a bit more and I do scrape the lip spoiler from time to time. That being said its possible to also scrape the bulge things infront of the front wheels when travelling at speed so lift wont help there. If I were using it in HK as a daily commute I might consider lift to be honest.
