Thanks!

So the very last coil might be touching the adjacent coil, causing clicking. And the fix is to install a new spring that has heat shrink tubing on the last coil to act as a buffer.

my car does this...guess I just ignored it

Local dealer sucks...ill have to drive to get it done

kyrocks 04-17-2019 02:52 PM

My car does this. My dealer is great. They have already ordered the parts for me.

Doesn't really seem like an mechanical issue for me to have the dealer address. I've heard this issue once under loads. In the front I do hear the springs turning on the perch only if I have lots of stuff in the frunk (costco trips).

thanks for the info. there were no" campaigns" for my car but "bulletins" are a different story. dealer is ordering parts for me today

Mine does this occasionally.

Next time i bring it in will have them address- nothing big enough for me to bring in for this sole purpose

FourT6and2 04-17-2019 05:07 PM

I wonder if the heat shrink fix has been applied across the board with all GT cars...

krell 04-17-2019 05:28 PM

My car finished production the day this was implemented. :roflmao:

My car does this! I was amazed at how accurately the bulletin described what I was experiencing. It's like a click or knock from the right rear area that seems to be happening when the suspension unloads. Any I just brought the car to the dealer but frustratingly they said that the do not have any service bulletins for my can (VIN) and that this bulletin must not apply to my car. I'm pretty convinced it does apply to my car so I'm taking it in on Tuesday for them to have a closer look.

I listen to the exact clank noise on the rear right suspension over bump on a test drive 991.2 - Feb 2018. I’m scared to buy a car with this issue but, on the other side, it seems a simple fix to detect. Any of you had the same issue fixed? Any issue with Porsche guarantee?

My .2 GT3RS already came with the spring condoms

GiuseppeM 05-31-2019 07:59 PM

I’ve heard the clunk sound twice and I felt it coming from the front, anyone figured out what it is?

Recalls and Service Notes

So...I don’t want to give something away for free but - I am. Getting alerts on any recall is challenging but important for safety. For a few decades I have been building Apps which track recalls and service bulletins for large enterprises and recently I started a new company to do that for consumer items - like my GT3. (And appliances, electronics etc). It does much more but my point is this. I added my GT3 and it told me about the March 5, 2019 recall for the air bags. I just added this issue about the springs clicking to my own GT3. In fact last week my app alerted me to a new recall for my wife’s BMW X1.

Heres a screen pic from my iPhone but it works on the web and for Android. Follow my hyperlink in my signature. Won’t mention app name as not really appropriate here - but I will say - I use it for several hundred items now and it’s very helpful to our family/friends.

This is my GT3 item in my App and I made a bunch of my notes public. So if you click my hyperlink it will show you them. One of the buttons is recalls.

The App could hecks for recalls every evening automatically and will alert you if we find one but you can also click button to do it if you want to see the pretty green line. The NHTSA data base is horrible and we are getting better quantifiable data.

My GT3 found recalls. Only 1.

This is the recall details and if you scroll further there is a link to the NHTSA database.

There's a recall for the GT3's airbags? Ummm isn't that kind of important? Haven't heard about this one.
