Trade my TTS for gt3?
I am thinking about trading my 2018 911TTS for a PDK gt3. Has anyone done this, if so any thoughts? Do you miss the crazy torque of the TTS? |
I would not have doubts .. You will not miss anything about driveability and engine..

I had a 2015 Turbo S that I traded in for a 2015 GT3, and I absolutely loved having done that (except the usual trade in loss)
Incidentally, I'm selling such GT3 if you are (or anybody else) interested : https://rennlist.com/forums/vehicle-...l#post15209016 I'm offering to RL first, then expand online, and then dealerships. |
I'll provide an alternative opinion. I like TTS better than GT3 for daily duties, granted it's a .2 TTS vs .1 GT3 comparison in my case. I'd only give up TTS for GT3 if TTS was my track car or garage queen - GT3 is better at both. But otherwise, TTS is better for a daily. I dailied GT3 for 2 years and then TTS for 7 months.

I have a 2017 TTS and a 2018 GT3 PDK in the garage and often run both around town and out in the country on the same day.
The TTS is an awesome car, no doubt, and the comfort of the interior and ride are remarkable. I do love the torque and feeling that boost spool up. But, in the end, it just drives/rides/feels like a very nice car. The GT3, on the other hand, feels like an experience. I have opened the valves and added a GRP bypass so it makes a lot of noise. Climbing in and out of the LWBs is always cool. There is still plenty of hp/torque and popping through the gears at 9K is a blast. I don't think you would have any regrets. |
Yeah, I agree 100%.
I remember the feel you get when the turbos kick in, and it brings a smile... you can't go wrong with either... its very interesting how Porsche manages to get different character out of such "similar" cars, all of them enjoyable in their own right... somehow I prefer the feel of the GT3, but I like them ALL :) (The engine sound in the GT3 its pretty intoxicating, also I like the firmness and yet compliance on the road) |

My TTS beats it in all performance measurements but braking. Lap times are faster in my TTS. Engine sound is better in the GT3RS. AWD grip is massive, GT3 is more edgy. 2 totally different cars that look familiar from the outside and the inside. You need to have both, but if the choice is only 1, then put a priority on everything you want, give points to both and choose. |
All depends on the purpose. A GT3 for a crawling commute on a California highway wouldn’t be my first choice. On the other hand a TTS wouldn’t be my first choice for a weekend track toy and canyon carver. YMMV
There is nothing quite like the sound of a GT3, it is truly an experience to drive these cars. Ryan |
The GT3 sucks.

Traded a 15 TT for a 15 GT3. No regrets. Love it. |
i have a .2 GT3 and a .1TTS with ByDesign Stage 4 so i can compare somehow. for puttering around town and driving daily, i think the Turbo S is better. there is lots of torque down low, the interior/ leather feels more expensive with the Burmester audio and just a more comfortable interior surrounding for the driver. the smoothness in how the PDK engages is very different from the GT3 especially in stop and go traffic. if you are about handling, i am pretty sure a few mods to the suspension and exhaust will make the car enjoyable enough like a GT3.
the .2 GT3 really shines on the track. the engine needs to be revved to feel its specialness and corners taken at insane speeds to really feel the handling advantage. you need to see 6-8.5K from it to really experience that at the end of the day, it is an engineering machine. however, how many times will you get to do that? still, the compromise is really not that bad except this car (for me) is more of a track weapon rather than a DD. on the other hand, the TTS is more of a DD that with a few mods can become a formidable trackday/ canyon car. good luck. |

The fact that your lap times are better in the TTS rather than the GT3 RS probably reflects your driving style and maybe the circuit you are driving. A professional driver will easily set faster lap times with a GT3 RS. Nürburgring time in a GT3 RS is 6:56 whereas a Turbo S is 7:17. Both are great cars. |

That's more the result of tires than the cars themselves.

Not really.....Turbo s ran cup 2's as well. Maybe a few second difference if GT3RS was running the R compound.
