That ZL1 1LE is a beast, I just wish chevy or ford would actually make the new cars smaller then the last.

The ZL1 1LE is a niche vehicle for sure. It will ride rougher with the DSSV shocks and it definitely looks a bit out there for someone who will just drive it around town. Those two attributes will filter out the poseurs quickly. The poseurs can buy a regular ZL1 with the very comfy and capable magnetic suspension and forgo the curb smashing splitter and burger holding tray table wing and save money. The regular ZL1 is already being discounted.
I love GM performance cars and I love them even more with discounts.

A couple of things to consider. You're on a Porsche site with many track enthusiasts participating. The video is an illustration of driving a car at its maximum capability or close to it. No one watching the video can came away without drawing one conclusion; the driver was almost flawless in driving the car for 7.16 minutes.
I don't believe anyone of us disparaged the car other than to inquire how long it would hold up while being driven that way.

TWO ZL1 1LE's are cheaper than ONE 991.2 GT3. Of course, I'm still getting the GT3, but I may get a ZL1 1LE too.

On the 10-speed in the "regular" ZL1, while I do agree the PDK-S is probably superior overall, I wouldn't discount the 10-speed. Watch some in-car videos of this car in action. Extremely responsive to paddle inputs and transmission shift speeds, especially upshift speeds, are superior to PDK apparently. Downshifts are no slouch either. This ain't your grandpa's 4L60 anymore.

I can't believe this is true. Our own user GT345 here in San Diego (which I would not call a low-cost market) ordered one of the first ones from a local dealer for MSRP, according to his thread here: https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...o-zl1-1le.html
Even the absurd ADMs on the GT350R have finally subsided to the $10-15K level it seems, and they are more desirable in the current market than the Camaro, I believe.

I am an owner of a new ZL1 w/10 speed auto to tide me over until the ridiculous hoopla subsides on the 991.2 GT3
PS. Does anyone want to sell me their GT3 allocation or trade?

I was talking about the auto offered with the ZL1, alluding to the time Randy Pobst beat the auto with the manual.

Average markup is about 30k. That's average.
GM is only making 750 1LE trims for MY2018.

I was able to find an allocation at msrp without a lot of effort - according to dealer they have confirmation of an allocation that will be built sometime between Aug and Jan - approx 800 cars will be built for 2018 MY - GM has 2 periods each month when builds get allocated - with small build quantity maybe they will be tougher to find in another month or two? or when the NA 700+hp Z/28 gets announced next year easy to find and price drops $15-20K?

Just watched the video and WOW, nice driving and great car, but am I the only one who thought he was checking his mirrors a couple times? Im like WTF does he think is going to come up behind him?!?!
After reading this my son who just completed his first yr. of college and is majoring in engineering is super geeked that somebody who builds the cars actually gets to drive them!

You may want to have your son spend summers in a Formula Mazda or Ford however if he wants to follow that path. Seat time matters

thank you for your posts Bill!
anyhow:
the chat vs. 991 GT laptimes
150hp more than 991 GT3 or RS
but also 120k$ less
I read two statements of drivers (who done also a lot (1.000+) laps) thinking around 2-3sec are still left on the table. Please don´t get it wrong. I just repeat and do not see those seconds in the first look
love the drive and the fight with it!
