Default Strategic Purchasing

Hi Guys, I'm really happy with my GT4, but I WANT a GT3 991.2 with MT in the future. However, I want to purchase in 1-2 years, so I can actually afford to keep both the GT4 and the GT3. Given limited production, rumours of limited MT availability, and waitlists, and based upon past trends, when would you recommend I put my deposit down for maybe a 2019/2020 production year version? Thanks!

Put a deposit down now. If you can even get one, you will probably get one toward the end of production anyhow.

Yeah, I figured that I should. Especially with manual. Thanks, doc! I just need to finish my fellowship, in order to afford this one!

Dealers have more names on lists for 991.2 cars than will be made for the whole run.

They're onto 992 lists already.

The strategic thing to do if you really want the car, is to pay the over MSRP most are looking for. Toward the end you can get away with $10K I'm sure.

STG is right, but the lists mean little anyway, as the dealers will adjust the MRM as they see fit and those who won't pay will just drop off the list. Also keep in mind if you are willing to trade them a "hot" car like the GT4 or another GT car you'll get preferential treatment in getting an allocation, especially if you pretrade it.

For a 2019/2020 production you need to go now and ask around. Many will have long lists already because 50% of GT buyers are trying to get cars 4-5 years ahead

this sounds crazy and not reflective of everyones experience, put a deposit down and watch the boards/forums, you'll get a car everyone else did eventually, I mean seriously, did you have to suck to get a GT4? same thing, put down deposit, be loyal buy car from same guy send friends family and wait

Put your name down, you never really know how long production will go. Good luck.

Hah! All you guys saying 'put your name down' please, please, post up the name of a single dealer in the U.S. that is still adding names to their list. Please exclude those where the list is already over 100 people or the dealer is asking for an ADM exceeding the price of an A6.

He said 2020...to be fair that is 3 years away.

To OP: you are aiming for NEXT GEN car at that point for clarity sake

Thanks guys. I just want a late build in 1 plus years. I've put my name down in Canada at the dealer. Luckily I have the gt4 history, so hopefully they show me some loyalty for my loyalty and lack of flipping. Much appreciated.

I put a deposit down about 3-4 weeks ago. we didn't discuss price but I got my GT4 at MSRP in the middle of the run when there was still a lot of unmet demand.

Of course I'm not anywhere near the coasts, unless you want to count the third coast.

dealers cannot adjust the MRM, just FYI.
