Default High Downforce mode on new GT3 like GT4?

On my GT4, there were little block-off plates to remove in the underside of the front splitter to increase downforce (and you were to simultaneously change angle of attach in rear wing to match the high downforce setting on the front axle).

Since the new GT3 seems to have a front bumper similar to the GT4, does anyone know whether this same 2-mode downforce system is employed?

Thanks!

There is a 2 way setting for the rear wing if I recall correctly from a German review, so it stands to reason there has to be something in the front too to balance things out.

Thanks! Hopefully some early owners will post the Track Use Manual where this should be describes (along with fastener and torque settings)

I believe the RS has something similar to the GT4, Grant. Not sure about the GT3- I would think so!

I believe for the GT4 it was mentioned in the owners manual somewhere - anyone with the GT3 manual had a peek to see if this is documented therein- or can stick their head under the front splitter?

My 991.2 GT3 manual covers the GT3 & GT2 RS, the track driving section is now included in the main manual. For both cars only the rear wing is adjustable. There is no adjustment for the front lip. The manual actually mentions that a steep angle of attack for the rear wing will induce understeer on the front axle.

Page 184 (US manual) "Thus, a steeper angle of attack not only results in higher drag but also uses the aerodynamic balance towards the rear axle. This means less down thrust on the front axle - and the associated potential consequences ( a tendency to understeer, etc)."

Why would less downforce on the front axle reduce understeer? I'd expect the opposite.

I think you read its wrong---it will induce (increase) understeer with less downforce in the front relative to the steeper wing angle out back---you are correct though.

Regardless I suspect most of us weekend warriors wouldn't know the difference... Last year I'm out in my antique and a certain Porsche factory pro takes it for a few hot laps... (btw if you ever want to be humbled...!!!) and proceeds to go into a long sweeper corner you enter about 110 and then trail back to 90 or so then back on it. Fast corner. Anyway, he proceeds to enter it WAY faster than I would have, and proceeds to get the car at least 10MPH faster than I can and then says "car has GREAT aero grip" while he's jerking the wheel back and forth at over 100MPH from entry to Apex. I'm still chasing that dragon....

^ I tell myself there's a reason they're pros and we're not...

Doesn't stop us from trying to work ourselves up that ladder tho haha...

I asked people about downforce before taking mine to the track for the first time. What's it feel like? What do I do differently?

It's all witchcraft.

It doesn't feel like anything.

You just have to go faster and have faith that it will stick. Then it probably will. Probably.

Hummm. Just adjusted the attack ankle on my 2016 RS rear wing. Maybe I should just put it back the way it was? I don't think that I have the ***** to find out if that aero trickery is really there working it's magic or not. I guess it must be but I don't think I'm ever gonna find out in this lifetime
