Default 991.2 GT3 exhaust

I'm in the planning process of figuring out how to get the .2 GT3 with MT within the next year. I love my 997.1 GT3 but it's time to upgrade. I'm curious of how many people have modified the exhaust on their 991s and any thoughts on doing it on the .2. I have a Sharkwerks on my 997 and I absolutely love it.

There are dozens of threads regarding the after-market 991.1 GT3 exhausts. I recommend that you read Money2536's Review of Dundon Motorsports Headers/Exhaust. He has tested and reviewed many of the available exhaust options.

Without seeing the .2 cars yet, I can't say for sure, but we should have a very similar exhaust to what's currently on your 997 - no drone, nice exotic sound and the exhaust switch still works like factory. Some people force the valves open on 991s to give them a louder sound and prevent the switching sound @ 4000 RPMs or so.

Dundon headers are the way to go right now. No drone and almost as quiet as stock inside the car. Big sound difference outside the car especially with the valves open. My RS with the FVD side muffler deletes, stock headers, and stock center muffler were louder than the Dundon headers, side muffler delete, and stock center muffler.

Oh I do love the sound... It works and sounds exactly like you describe. I'm way ahead thinking about the exhaust on the .2 because I obviously don't have the car. I'm thinking that if the .2 sounds that good in stock form I would imagine a bypass similar to what I have on the 997 would sound really good.

Give us a shout when you have your 991.2 GT3, we have catted (removable for track days) and full race versions of our headers all with valved side deletes for no drone! More power, great sound, less weight, 321 Stainless steel construction and guaranteed for life!

Based off of what we've seen the headers should be a direct swap from the 991.1's. The longer rear bumper might necessitate longer tips for any center section.

We will certainly have our proven GMG WC-Sport Headers, Bypass, and Center Sections for the 991.2 cars.

I'm confused. All the Dundon exhaust parts barely change the acoustics and volume level inside the car? I have never heard of any exhaust for any Porsche that doesn't significantly change the tone and the volume level while you are driving - inside the car.

Dundon, care to chime in?

Yes and like you I thought the same thing. I have had several different Porsches over the years from a couple of 993s to the current 991 RS. Of the ones I have modified with aftermarket exhaust they all have a had a lot of noise inside the cabin. When Dundon Motorsports started advertising their headers on here I had my doubts too. I was mistaken. The interior noise in the car with the Dundon Motorsports headers is quiet. It is slightly louder than stock but a lot quieter than the FVD side muffler delete I had on the car before the install of these. No drone at all. No certain RPM is the noise louder than another other then when you get above 4k at WOT. It is nuts and I would not have believed it until I drove PhilT's car at the SmokiesGT2017 event. That was the selling factor for me. Hands down the best exhaust I have experienced on a Porsche for power delivery and sound inside the car. Highly recommend them to anyone.

If you are ever in Atlanta give me a shout. I can meet up so you can experience them firsthand.

Oh it's louder just only when you want it to be. By using the center muffler and keeping the valves we keep the drone out. We also offer a 30day money back guarantee. Don't like it. Get your money back. Talk to any of our customers about our systems they all tell you the same thing. Quiet during daily life (cold start is a bit of a bark) and glorious when you open it up!!

We will most certainly be developing our latest Header, Side Mufflers and Center Section for the new 991.2 GT3 as soon as I get my allocation this fall. Our first version was made back in 2007 for both the 997.1 GT3 as well as the 2008 Pirelli World Challenge Cup cars which we were allowed to modify and develop both the header and rear muffler system, with GMG being the only approved manufacturer other than Porsche Motorsport North America.
