Honestly, I don't know how you cyclists (both pedal and motor) do it, given how much stupidity I see on the roads daily. The pleasure for me would have equal sex or better to compensate for the risk.

One thing I started doing in the car while coming up on cyclist going up hill were the speed for the cyclist is 7-12 mph ( depending on how much EPO your using that week) is I hit my emergency flashers just to let people know behind me that things are moving slow and once a good place to pass happens I give a wide birth.I started doing this after I rolled through Steven's Canyon Rd.in Cupertino about 10 years ago on my bike hours before a Santa Clara County Sheriff killed two out of four cyclist in a head on collision. He had fallen asleep st the wheel after a 12 hour shift.I will also be the first to say there are alot of A** Hole cyclist out there that have no clue as to how to behave on the road with cars. One thing I alway's remember is the car will alway's win in a car vs. bike collision.

it's what we all love to do..
just need to be situationally aware
There are so many good places to pass, I don't understand passing on blind corners. Be aware everyone, I was driving Redwood road toward Oakland and while coming up on a left hand turn with the hill on my left, I see someone standing on the right side of the road taking video with the camera pointed around the bend at traffic I can't see yet coming towards me. It seems like a young guy and I bet he's recording someone driving, so I slow. Sure enough, a motorcyclist comes around the bend towards me taking what for him is a right hand turn. He dumps the bike, lowside, and slides across my lane, off the road, and down the slope. I would have hit him if I didn't slow. Luckily, he didn't sustain major injuries and the car behind me that stopped was driven by a doctor who stayed and checked him out. Look for small details and be aware of how far you can see.
Although a minor point, it just reminds me of how 3/4 of the times I flash my highbeams at someone to get them to turn on their lights, they don't get it, don't notice, or think I want to pass. If someone is signaling you in some way, your first thought should be "there could be many reasons this person is trying to get my attention, let me ponder what they could be." (btw, in California it's the law to turn on headlights if it's raining, no matter if it seems bright and in the middle of the day)

and YES a lot of A**HOLE cyclist. like riding on ctr of road when he's alone not in a pack and block everything.
your idea of blinkers is great. I will do that as well
FINALLY, this is not about finger pointing or who owns the road.
motorcycle, bicycle, cars all can share the road.
sometimes we ramble and cuss at each other in the heat of the moment sure...
but the bottom line is be careful.
even when you take out the 2 wheelers, I see a lot of cars driving off the embankment on 92, 84, 35... I mean quite a few!

One thing I do is put black electrical tape over the display on my computer so I don't know how fast I am not going!Kings Mountain, Tenetis Creek, Hicks, Mt. Hamilton ect. ect. all worthy climbs.I think one thing to remember for both cyclist & drivers is people in cars are way more distracted then ever before with cell phones & other things going on it the car.No finger pointing but I feel like I am riding & driving for the other guy just because of all the non attentiveness going on out on the roads.
