Default No Active Safety devices at PCA DE's??

Posted this as a response in the 991 Turbo forum but no replies.

Just a heads up. We were informed last weekend at the Suncoast Sebring DE that PCA will no longer allow vehicles with active safety devices on the track at PCA sponsored events due to unknown/untested reactions to vehicles that you may be rapidly closing on. Concerned regarding vehicle reactive versus driver reactive consequences to vehicles behind you. Anyone else hear this?

Obviously a spec consideration for even those casual track day guys interested in a new car. Be a shame to buy a new Porsche and be shut down when you take it to the track.

Here's the official clarification from Alex Bell, PCA National DE Chair:
"Many of you may already be aware of the concerns regarding Automatic Emergency Braking Systems available in some new cars and the potential issues for those vehicles participating in a PCA DE events going forward. Some regions have taken action on their own to address the concern. I, along with my DE Committee, are in the beginning stages of determining a National Standard which can apply to this issue going forward.
Our current position on this issue is as follows:

At this time it is not known how “Automatic Emergency Braking Systems” will react at speed in the HPDE environment. For the safety of all participants PCA has decided not to allow affected vehicles to run with our group at HPDE events unless the system can be and is turned off. We have no doubt that this equipment is very helpful in street driving; however, we cannot risk endangering drivers, instructors and their vehicles at our on-track driving schools.

One final thing I would ask all PCA DE Leadership is to please keep me posted on what you are seeing at the track. If you could email your experience with vehicles with these features, then we can learn how these cars impact our future DE product.
Thanks for all you do for PCA and best to everyone in 2017"

They don't know if this “Automatic Emergency Braking System” can be turned off completely? I thought it could be disabled with a switch? Seems like a call to PCNA and consultation with the PAG engineers should clear this question up quickly. PCA should have enough juice to get an answer and PCNA should be concerned enough to get it for them.

Can't assume that all participants at PCA events are driving Porsches.

So they aren't talking about the Porsche Active Safety (PAS) system?

How are they going to handle this in tech inspection? Make everyone who has such a system demonstrate that it is turned off?

Makes sense but not sure how to properly enforce?

In Porsche it's fully defeatable and is rather easy to enforce - the PAS icon on the dash goes gray or disappears when it's disabled. Here is a piece from the manual about it (at the top):
