I'm with you here. Unless they really screw it up, it's a 911 so it's going to look great. The change in the engine is what matters.

On the other hand, the LFA is supposed to have one of the best engines ever made, but looks to me like a preschooler designed the bodywork.

Stop saying that. Once the dealers find out, the ADM will get even higher for us CA folk. (if that is possible).

You have nothing to worry about, just get a time machine, go back in time and establish a history with a dealership that doesn't do ADM.

It's the biggest reason why I want to change.

The RS 991 has the side scoops and gets lots of air into the engine from that angle.

I hope you guys appreciate how they can evolve the same essential car from 415HP to 500HP reliably (lol?) over the last 10 years without drastically changing the car. Looking at a 430, a 458, and a 488 in the same time:

430 looked super origami, busy, weird layers of everything, transmission was terrible. Build quality suspect, interior bits still shrivel in sunlight.

458 was widely panned for being too angular but some loved the looks. Polarized. Changed to DCT and chain drive which widely upgraded the car and maintenance.

488 is now a turbo and lots of people walking away from msrp allocations. Styling blends skinnier lambo and BMW flame surfacing a la chris bangle. Car is said to have lost soul. Dealers are still jerks.

The 997, 997.2, 991, 991.2 GT3 have really just gotten faster and faster more capable and stronger and better interior with each step. PDK is incredible on track. And the small ram air tweaks here and there just ensure differentiation to trained eyes. Other than the LEDs increased prevalence, there are not drastic differences in design language. To me that is a huge compliment to the future value of a GT3. Other than the flying taco wing on the 997 GT3, they all just look bad ***, and pretty sure they always will.
Well said, CJ.

Part of me feels a little wrong for going straight for the 991.2 before first owning the 991.1. If I get the allocation, it will be my first Porsche ever, but I feel like I should own the 991.1 for at least 1-2 years prior so I can really appreciate the improvements. Hmm....

There's absolute nothing wrong with going straight for the youngest model first. We all need to start somewhere.

But if you really felt that way, go for a 997 first instead.

There are bigger differences between the 997 to 991 than 991.1 to 991.2.

Funny! I actually test drove a 997 GT3 a few years ago and OMG, that clutch felt like pushing in a cement block, lol! I really wasn't expecting it to be that damn heavy but sheesh!

My leg felt all gummy after I got out of it. Just showed me that I need to work out my legs more when I go to the gym.

I agree, you should be awash in guilt. To absolve yourself go back to 996 gt3 and work your way up.

On second thoughts, I'm sure you'll jump into the 991.2 gt3 and delight at the engine's performance and never look back.
