Really? Look at this and then go back and realize how tacked on, bespoke, cheap, out of place, and hedious that looks in comparison to the integrated, painted, and contoured look on the 991.1.

If the .2 GT3 scopes were painted the body color they would look good

Agree, which is why I plan to do exactly that.

I'm with Irish Andy - I think the black scoops look great - perfect with Guards Red and PDLS plus in black and finished off with black gloss wheels. IMHO black contrasts so well with any of the strong colours e.g. racing yellow, guards red, viper green . Looks even better with a good healthy dose of track rash

I love the scoops, but they would look even better in CF.

Thank you finding the pics I was referring to. It clearly shows that there is two air vents in the .2 vs the one in the .1

The .2's are more functional for the new engine and direct more air into the intakes for better engine performance. What's there not to like?

The .1 has its own issues.

Paint them and move on. If someone isn't going to buy a car for some small cosmetics, so be it.

Yes, that's why I said the differences are below.
There is no apparent reason, other than looks, to have changed the design of the .1 air intake.
Still, it looks like some people (maybe most) prefer the .2 look.

The two scoops will put faster air into the intakes and there is some science behind the suction effect of smaller faster air inlets vs broader. So, it's possible this is where they're getting some of the torque from. The R has 2 little fans to suck in more air in the same location. The RS 991 has the side scoops and gets lots of air into the engine from that angle.

I hope you guys appreciate how they can evolve the same essential car from 415HP to 500HP reliably (lol?) over the last 10 years without drastically changing the car. Looking at a 430, a 458, and a 488 in the same time:

430 looked super origami, busy, weird layers of everything, transmission was terrible. Build quality suspect, interior bits still shrivel in sunlight.

458 was widely panned for being too angular but some loved the looks. Polarized. Changed to DCT and chain drive which widely upgraded the car and maintenance.

488 is now a turbo and lots of people walking away from msrp allocations. Styling blends skinnier lambo and BMW flame surfacing a la chris bangle. Car is said to have lost soul. Dealers are still jerks.

The 997, 997.2, 991, 991.2 GT3 have really just gotten faster and faster more capable and stronger and better interior with each step. PDK is incredible on track. And the small ram air tweaks here and there just ensure differentiation to trained eyes. Other than the LEDs increased prevalence, there are not drastic differences in design language. To me that is a huge compliment to the future value of a GT3. Other than the flying taco wing on the 997 GT3, they all just look bad ***, and pretty sure they always will.

Well said. I definitely appreciate Porsche making conservative, yet impactful improvements versus major, but polarizing changes that could affect the future values and desirability of the GT3. How much of the $13K base price increase over the 991.1 do you feel is pure R&D versus profit? After what happened with the engine recall, I was a bit surprised that they increased the price that much.

Rennlisters, drove up the price saying the .1 was under valued and Porsche should charge more and the price point was such a good deal for the performance. Also the mass craziness that occurs when these cars are released ..........smart business from marketing is to raise the price.

Price has increased at similar rate since 356... luckily, Porsche doesn't listen to Rennlist or the GT3 Msrp would be $300k the way we prattle on about values...

The biggest design change, which is the most important, is the one you can not see- the ENGINE.

That is all the matters to me. The rest is cosmetic BS. This has been a work in progress now for like 5 years. If they got it right now this is going to be special
