I'm paying about $2500 a year for 250k stated value with Chubb.
I drive work vehicles though so I didn't get any credit for it being a "third car"... I've since added a couple cars so I'm sure my price will drop since they can't consider it a primary driver car anymore.

Track time? Like track driving? Who's your insurance with?

Heck, they would even pay for a new Tesla Solar roof on my homeowners once another hail storm comes through
What State are you in? I called Farmers a year ago and they told me that do not cover any use of the vehicle on track period, timed or not. I can't imagine this clause would vary by State, as that makes no sense. State variances are usually regulatory issues, not things like track use.

I'd be very curious what State your in and the exact wording in your policy related to track use.

I don't have farmers but I second the question. I would happily pay 2K per year for insurance instead of 1K if it truly covered me on the track as well.

You guys have it good... insurance in BC through ICBC is ludicrous and they are even talking about not insuring high value cars (> $150 k cdn) period

Yup. This comment pops in threads from time to time, but the poster is never able to provide proof of coverage. I've posted many times that I've called all of the major insurance companies about this issue and none of them provide coverage for on track incidents of any type, and some even decline coverage if the car is anywhere on the property of a racing facility, i.e., even in the paddock. None of them even asked what State I was in. Given the fact that a single day of track day insurance runs in the neighborhood of $400-500, there is no way an insurance company is covering this type of liability under their standard auto policy.

On the OP's original point, $5k a year seems nuts, even if it were the primary car with 12k mile a year estimate. I would estimate that a car like that would run $1500-1800 a year on my policy.

The issue that I am finding is the stated value. Chubb or others wont cover it under a normal policy and has to go to collector coverage. I have my broker looking into alternatives as $5200 is just plain crazy.

Pretty sure my policy with Chubb is a "normal" one. Maybe it's related to the state you live in?

I must be with the wrong broker. Several people I have talked to in the Phoenix AZ area with similar high end cars are paying half of what I was quoted. Even through my broker it is still $3700 annual. No claims, in my fifties, no tickets and still cant get a decent quote.

Premiums correlate to driver coverage limits, not stated property value. I pay roughly 4500/yr for 2 million, not just liability but uninsured or underinsured. This is a huge distinction as it covers you if your not at fault.

I use Chubb. Geico and Farm Bureau are great companies that pay but they only cover max of 500k, as most insurance companies. Careful out there with only 500k coverage.

6 cars $2500 a year. Quote for a GT3 is another grand. State Farm. Service is terrible, but if you don't care about money get Chubb.

State Farm, Allstate, very similar. Their claims reps are ****. I have a gal with central disc herniations and 20k in meds. Offer was 25k.

Remember on these Umbrellas, that they are usually liability only and will not protect you from getting whacked by some kid in a truck.
