And I would have thought the one benefit of center-locks would be that this sort of thing would be avoided

No wheel locks? and how did they steal the car without the key? Unless they put tires on it and ramped it up onto a flatbed.... Another reason not to leave your ride unattended on a dirt road.

What self respecting P car owner parks his RS on a dirt road using his front lip as a plow. Look at the front end. No way he/she drove the car here and park it like that.

for me it seems the owner was treating his RS as it was meant to be. sporty daily driving.
hopefully his insurance is fair and fast.

So they came and stole the wheels over night, no one noticed and they came back during the day to put the wheels back on and throw it on a truck or trailer?
I'd never leave my car long enough for all that to happen without anyone noticing. Yikes.
