Default 991.2 GT3 Bucket Seats - do they fold?

I have a 997.1 GT3 with the GT2 bucket seats. They have a strap and fold forward which is awesome for stuffing things behind the seats.

It's my understanding that the bucket seats (918 style) in the 991.1 GT3 and GT4 don't fold forward but are fixed.

Looking at the pictures on the USA Porsche micro site for the 991.2 GT3, I see this photo:

http://files1.porsche.com/filestore/...rsche-zoom.jpg

It looks like it has a strap and hinges to allow it to fold forward. Can anyone confirm or deny that this is the case for USA cars?

Thanks,
-Christian

In ROW there are two bucket seat options. The one in your picture and the lwbs from the 918. The ones in your picture do fold but the lwbs do not.

To my knowledge the ones in your picture are not available in the US.

Agreed ^^^^

And the no folding aspect of the LWB is annoying in that you basically have no access to the rear of the car.

Correct - the sport bucket seats (aka GT2) will fold forward. The full bucket seats (aka 918) do not. What the full bucket seats do have is height adjustment which our government has made mandatory for the driver seat in the US. For that reason, the sport bucket seats are no longer offered in US cars. The rest of the world gets a choice. They also get a no cost roll bar and harness option - good thing the government protects us from that!

How easily do the lwb slide forward? I currently have the standard 2 ways and tbh I am very pleased with them but the lwb do look cool. However I would want to be able to put a weekend bag in the back seat area.

LWB seats slide manually just like the standard non-electric seats. In full forward position, a soft bag will easily go in the back, even as large as a duffel bag, if not packed so tightly as to be rigid. Hard luggage is another story.

Best method is one seat all the way forward and the other all the way back, then you can slide in soft luggage as TT said. I fit a lot back there during ED last year. Not the most convenient, but since I am tall, my seat is always all the way back anyway so not the end of the world. Still wish we got the folders.

what about a set of golf clubs? Is the space big enough with seat all the way forward?
With the 18 ways it's easy

OrthoJoe's GT3 track build thread has a picture of his golf clubs placed behind the LWB.

My question is, will my window tint guy have to remove a seat to gain access to the rear window? Can a grow man "squeeze" back there?

EDIT: lstuey --> lol, no chance unless you use a quiver with a few clubs. Even sliding them all the way forward and up, the gap between the seat and the door is not very big.

My 8 year old can crawl back there carefully so unless your tint guy is tiny, seat has to come out.

My tint guy got back there.
As mentioned - move one seat as far forward as it will go. Also helps to move it as far up (toward the roof) as it will go.

That's really annoying. And why show it on the USA website if you can't get it. And they also show the Club Sport option with half cage, harness and extinguisher just to taunt us some more.

Now I wonder if I can fit the GT2 carbon seats from my 997.1 into the 991.2? I also wonder if I can purchase the cage in Europe and ship it over.

GMG and BBI make great cages.

I agree. I just hanker for an OEM solution. I had a German 996.2 Club Sport with full cage, dual harnesses, extinguisher, external ignition kill, etc. I guess I'm longing to replicate that car.

I have the GT2 buckets in my 997.2RS and an extra set laying around. I use the fold option regularly to get things in and out. Anybody ever throw the GT2 seat onto the LWB seat rails and have the height adjust work? would be a interesting option for some.
