The 964RS has legit magnesium wheels, like the 993 GT2 and 918 weissach...

Well yes, the lightness!

But you have to admit, there is no other 911 with the turbo kick like the 3.6 Turbo, last of the single turbo cars.

"......and a fantastic shifter that nothing compares in it's precision and feel, it's like slotting in a rifle bolt."

Love that description.

I think there's a time for both, and i agree completely that the R is not as raw and involving as older stuff, and I'd also prefer it to be smaller, with smaller rubber. However, for a modern car that you can rely on, with the drivetrain that it has, I don't think it can currently be beaten.

If there's an argument for modern Porsches at all, which there clearly is, then the R is the best answer out there for me. (as a road car). Otherwise, we'd all be driving around in 964s all the time. (and this is coming from someone who will get a 964RS at some point soon - struggling to justify current prices, ironically...). My opinion, and I won't change it.

If others feel differently, they'll be right for themselves. No issue, and refreshing to see someone admit to selling one!

How about the GT2 version of the 964RS, the 964 Turbo S Leichtbau? It did not have the magnesium wheels, for the first time Porsche used the 18 inch Speedlines on a road car. But the car is truly light, strong, small, and simple. One of my favorite cars.

Had the pleasure of driving both the Leichtbau and the R this past weekend.

A very nice car indeed.
I would love to read a comparison between it and a 964 RS 3.8. Both are the pinnacle of the 964, at least from my point of view.

The 3.8RS 964 is the best 964 to a lot of people, the 964RS and 964 Cup Cars are #2-3

Rennlist is like a broken record. People here constantly talking about:

1. Dealers charging over sticker on their allocation
2. How much their car is worth in today's market
3. Praises/Criticisms on cars they have NEVER driven

I find it fascinating. People who hates the R have never driven one in the real world. What makes it even better is that they compare it to the 997.2 4.0, ANOTHER car that they have NEVER DRIVEN in the real world and praise it like it's the holy grail

Same thing goes with the CGT. How many of you have actually driven a CGT in real life? Yet, almost everyone praises it. Why? Because some journalists says so? Or some owners writes about their experience and loves it?
