Off the track, there is one benfit to that 787 wing. When in traffic, everyone, and I mean everyone, will let me in without any issues. It is amazing.

Yup. I am confirmed for manual and was asked to lock specs for PTS. Then it's a waiting game for the window to open. I don't have a 'guarantee' of PTS but the best efforts of a great SA and great dealer is a close second for me. For some dealers the relationship and wanting to sell to enthusiasts is still a huge part of the business, not just how many $$$ you have, or that you buy a cab from them every year...

maybe you misinterpreted my comment or I wasn't clear, probably the latter. My only point was that forums have a tendency to make bigger issues of smaller numbers of problems than I think the reality is. When I typed out the sentence you put in bold I was highlighting that rennlist will blow a gasket thinking the new engine is unreliable. I am not wishing bad things for anyone.

Makes sense to purchase a new .2, if you are coupling this car with a manual, if you want manual there literally is no other choice..
however, for the .2 pdk, it's a different story, especially If You already have a .1 which hasn't exploded yet, Then you'd be crazy to look at buying this .2 just for the engine. The .2 is a small incremental benefit over .1, literally, maybe 10% better LOL.
It's not worth the massive premium between a depreciated .1 and an Msrp .2, let alone a depreciated .1 and an ADM .2 which is the choice most here are facing....that upgrade is just for the stupid money. Even if I didn't have a .1, and I wanted pdk, id go into the used market armed with knowledge of possible engine problems and negotiate like hell.. its the perfect time to buy one!

Is there a new engine problem?
Are you referring to the 'engine problem' that has been known for 2 years and no fewer a buyer?
But yes, I'd agree .2 is not worth it.

The .2 is only worth it if you believe it is. The reality is the public will not see major difference. Only the rabid car enthusiast would be able to tell. If I still owned my .1 not sure I would jump to a .2 although I am a guy that likes the latest and greatest from Porsche.

If you want a manual it's a no brainer. You must get this Gt3. But I don't want manual. Also I ordered & specced my 2015 Gt3 so options are not an issue. Warranty is also not an issue in my market as it can be extended endlessly through porsche by paying an annual fee.
Incidentally I have not had a single issue with my gt3 over 22,000 kms and 28 months of ownership (engine or otherwise). My use has been a combination of street and several track days (at least 20).
Now I do believe the new Gt3 will be better in every way compared to the .1 and I do really want one! But the improvement will not be more than 10-15% overall so that doesn't justify the $$$$ cost to me. I also have my eyes out for the Gt2, .2 Gt3RS and/or 488 speciale. Those will all be revealed in the next 12 months and I may be able to justify a purchase for those. (Fyi I also own a 2014 458 Italia).

Its all about the Manual for me.
Loved my 2014 991 GT3 but wanted a Manual so traded for a Configurable GT4 with LWBs and CR( which could not get on the 2014 for the Buckets and did not get PTS ). Two things both sat in my mind, as well. The Manual was the main reason but I just finally had enough with the 991 GT3. I felt it was bad Omen. The whole 5 months at the Port and the continued BS with the engine also aided the decision. Actually traded it and made $10,000 and then went nuts and ticked every box for the GT4 and also dumped money in to my son's 529 plan- "Win-Win"
Now - to have a manual mated to the new engine.- perfect combo. I gambled that I could bridge the gap with the GT4 and got lucky when the Manual was announced. Now the big decision will be do I keep the GT4 with the .2 or trade it.
