Comparing 991.2 GT3 with prior R/RS models shows .2 superior?

I'm curious about the tires. I've heard a few people including AP mention .2 GT3 has next gen Cup2, but is that the same as the RS (N1) or another new compound? Once out of the controlled mfg launch tests, need to see somebody gather the .2 GT3, .1 RS and maybe R or .1 GT3 to get a good view. I don't see it being 3 seconds faster than the prior gen around a place like Angelsey on the same day.

Correct, it was possible to see "N1" on one of the photos/vids in the recent reviews. I was hoping it might be something even newer (RS has had these for almost 2 years), but makes the .2 GT3 performance all the more impressive...

Same day, same driver, same rubber I'm sure the .1 GT3 and .2 GT3 will be close with .2 faster. I wouldn't be surprised if the .1 RS is faster than the .2 GT3 still due to more mechanical grip and more down force. Add the 911R diffuser to the .1 RS and the RS will be a clearer winner. Engine power curve drops off for both at 8,250 RPM so I don't see 9,000 RPM being an advantage in time, just perceived emotion.
I have a .2 GT3 incoming that'll be parked next to my .1 RS. Finally pulling the .1 RS out of storage today as I sold something else . Though it is booked for a charity event next week first

Nate, nice to hear you didn't sell it and are getting to drive it. It's a keeper!

The power drop off on the .2 from 8,250 to 9K RPM is less than .1 according to the brochure diagram, as solid lifters don't begin to float like hydraulic.

^ There were a lot more 991.1 GT3 engines made than cars themselves...

It is a matter of some dispute, but usually they make many more non-RS than RS. However, with the stop-sale during the GT3 production run last time (due to engine issues), this limited how many cars they could make and they made far more RS to GT3 than usual (whether or not actually more RS in absolute terms).

However, with the stop-sale during the GT3 production run last time (due to engine issues), this limited how many cars they could make and they made far more RS to GT3 than usual (whether or not actually more RS in absolute terms).
Then suddenly, from late 2015 to early 2016 there were a lot of RS slots available in the pipeline for 2016 production, dealers were calling around even potentially interested buyers how they managed to get "more slots".
This is supported by the fact that the RS is by far the most popular car in my circle of friends. There are suddenly 10++ RS's all bought new from dealers while initially it was a car that was almost impossible to get.
This is also supported by comments from different Porsche dealers, many tell how in the end they got a great access to RS and could sold a lot of them. Easy to discuss the topic if you ask them now when GT3 RS mk2 allocations are being made.
You may disagree with this, and with US spec cars it might be different but just look at the amount of 991 GT3 RS on the market globally, huge amount in both US and Europe at least.
It doesn't make the car any worse!
But in contrast to earlier models, Porsche now has a strict policy and does not tell how many they produced...no wonder why.

I just called my dealer who is shipping me a 'new' RS tomorrow to shove it.
Told him it's old, outdated and a POS according to the internet.
Why bother wasting a year driving this piece of crap around until the .2GT3RS comes out.
PS - Just between us ladies, I hope he still ships it

FYI. There will be a new version of Cup2 as we were told by Michelin engineer at Amelia. Whether this is a version of the AMG-GTR Ring tire I don't know. But the engineer said expect it towards the middle-end of the year. My bets are it shows up on the 2RS.

Compare all you want. GT3.1 GT3RS.1 OR GT3RS.2. Only one is going to come as a manual. If you want a manual the RS will have to go unless you can afford to keep both. Why would I want to pay more for the RS?
